So we change our hotels and are now going to be staying at the Contemporary.....we have never been to the Wave, but the food sounds like it would be good. Any input? Oh and what do people usually wear there? It doesnt say dress up, but are shorts and t shirts okay ?

not on the list of restaurants with a dress code. The Contemporary is often used for conventions and you may see people dressed up more for dinner.

It is really a good restaurant besides being convenient for you. I wouldn't hesitate to go.

It is nice, but it doesn't get too dressy. While I was there there were many people in shorts and sandals. I think anything would probably be acceptable with the exception of cut off sleeves or tank tops. In my opinion, the food is great too.

The Wave is the most under-rated restaurant at WDW right now, I feel. We went there directly from touring the MK (but we tend to dress a bit more conservatively than park-commandos, so keep that in mind). The food and service are both suprisingly good. Definitely put it into your plans.

I totally agree with this!!! It's a gem-we should keep it quiet though so it doesn't become a Le Cellier!!! ;)

if you are a traveling with children, be aware that they use the paper straws found in AK. Our kids find them hard to use, so we smuggle in plastic straws from Contempo. IF you do this, smuggle them back out and dispose of them as the wait staff can get in trouble if they are found on the table.

I looked at the menu and the only thing that appeals to me is the chicken pot pie, has anyone tried this and is it good?

We had the best meal of our 9 night trip here less than 2 weeks ago. We've had excellent food the three times we've visited over the last few years.

Been there twice. It's one of my favorite non-signature restaurants and makes it onto the "will return in future" list, but not onto the "must do every trip" list.

Agree 100%. We had two excellent meals at The Wave last year. Actually, we only had one reservation for The Wave, and it was so good that we changed a second Le Cellier reservation to The Wave.

But we tend to dress a bit more conservatively than park-commandos.

I literally laughed out loud here!:lmao:

Love The Wave!! Needed a last minute reservation while we were there this past trip and was able to get something the same day. Great meal, great service!

Definitely on my list for the next trip we do the DDP.

Totally agree. Going to the Wave during our upcoming trip (in 3 days!). We went for the first time last year, and it was the only meal we talk about or remember. And we hit pretty much all the usual top TS places. This one never comes up as being as popular as those. Thank goodness. I feel like it is our little secret.

Hope you enjoy if you go.

Seriously? I always travel with plastic straws in my bag since often one of my kids drops one on the floor accidentally and that way I don't have to track down waitstaff to get another. Some local restaurants around here don't even offer straws to kids. I would hope staff wouldn't get in trouble for something that a customer brought in and left at the table.

Yes, had the chicken pot pie last year and it was amazing. We ate at the Wave last year on a night when we had no ADR - knew nothing about it - and it and it exceeded our expectations! Will definitely go back this Nov. Decor/atmosphere is pretty neat too.

Wow --- thank you all for such amazing input!

I am definately excited about this now. The menu looks great, including the childrens menu for my oh so picky son with Autism.

THANK YOU for the note about the straws - he would obess that they weren't plastic. I will be sure to bring some with us.

This will be good, new hotel to explore, new resturant to try.

Thank you all again for the wonderful responses!

Loved it. I really like the split peas soup. i even asked for the recipe. I don't like split pea soup usually. Will go again in September.

thanks i cant wait to try it if we decide to go!

We ate there during our November trip and liked it OK. It was about middle of the road on our dinner list from that trip. I had the flat iron steak and liked it OK but didn't think it was that special. However, we were all in the process of coming down with something that evening and that may have affected our impressions.

Are we just talking about dinner? Or, is the lunch good, too?

I was thinking of adding this to our ADR list. I'm trying to select exciting restaurants to visit as this will be my 2 youngest sons' first trip (ages 17 & 23) and I want them to experience some nice places. One problem I'm having is my DS27 is a vegetarian (no meat, fish, poultry, eggs) and there are only a few restaurants that have anything worthwhile on the menu. I'd like to try the Wave but see there is only a vegetarian stew.
