Waterparks in July

What is every one's opinon on the water parks in July? It seems it would be a no brainer during the height of summer but I would imagine its so crowded and Im wondering if its worth it or if using your resort amenities is a better choice? I have never been to the WP's in WDW but generally enjoy them, and DSD11 and DN12 love them. TIA!

The last couple of times we did Extra Magic at the water parks. We got out both times before the afternoon thunderstorms rolled in. Worked out great back to our resort to change dry off and lunch.
Other day its parks, resort pool, lunch, parks then back Boardwalk (our resort) to finish off our night

We only go in July these days due to kids schedules. One trip we got the tickets that included waterparks and visited both of them. We really didn't enjoy them due to the crowds. It was very difficult to ride anything because the lines were so long. We even witnessed a fight break out in the lazy river because there weren't enough tubes for everyone - two dads in two different families were trying to collect enough tubes for their kids and it got very ugly with yelling and swearing. Security broke it up before it got physically violent. We never went back after that.

This is how we would do it - I think its necessary to get there early due to the afternoon rain and crowds. And the breaks in the day when you are up and at 'em so early is necessary too. The faster you run, the faster the vac seems to go by!

Oh dear...I hate when things like that happen in places like that - some people seem to leave their magical attitudes behind when they go to the place of magic

I've been during the beginning of August and there are days when if you leave later on in the morning the parks will be full and they won't let more people in. The waterparks are used by a lot of locals and they do get REALLY full. I think it depends on what you want to get out of them as to whether or not they are worth it.

My son worked the college program at Blizzard Beach from Spring through Summer. His tip: when it rains, don't leave with the crowds. Most of the time it's a passing downpour and when it stops the slides are opened again and there's almost no one there. Just grab your stuff and duck into a gift shop for a bit.

Watch the weather of course, on occasion the afternoon thunder shower turns into an all afternoon thing, in which case if they don't expect it to let up they will close the park.
