Waterparks early December

What has been your experience with the first week of December as far as it being warm enough to enjoy a waterpark? I know it's probably hit or miss, but some personal experiences would be appreciated.

We went last year in mid December and it was way too cold for water anything! I did see some people in shorts and even in the pool...I just assumed they must be yankees! I am from Charleston, SC though, so maybe I expect it to be warmer than most when submerging myself in water.

We went in December 2003 and we were able to do both BB and TL, but like you said, it's probably hit or miss on the weather. The other poster nailed it on the head since we are yankees, it wasn't cold for us!!

We tried to do Typhoon Lagoon first week of December last year. Too cold, we are from MS. Plus was the park was virtually empty. It was actually the only day that it was kind of chilly. All the water is heated, EXCEPT the water roller coaster one. No one mentioned that until I hit the pool - it was like ice. One of the lifeguards laughed at me and said, "Yeah, this is the only one that is not heated." Wise Guy!

A lot of times the WPs are closed for refurbishment during the winter months, so make sure you check into that.

the water at both the water parks are heated to 78-81 degs. we went to TL in 2004 and other then the wind it was nice. if your from a part of the country where its cold in december(day time temps of 40 or colder) then upper 50's 60's or 70's will be a heat wave to you. just remember that.

We've been in Nov. and Dec. and been the only ones in the pool - the lifeguards have had on windsuits and mittens while we are laying in the sun and enjoying smoothies! We haven't done a water park on those visits - but we would. We just couldn't fit them in on those trips. Of course...we are from Rochester NY.

It's very hit or miss! When we went the 1st week of December 2004, the day before we arrived it was only 68 degrees, then the entire week we were there it was 85 and sunny every day (I know, we were so lucky!) the day after we left it was only 70 and 40 at night. You just never know in December. If you really want to do a waterpark, just plan for it and if you have a warm beautiful day, go.

Also, one of the water parks will be closed. They don't close both at the same time, they do one and then other. I think when we were there Blizzard Beach was closed for rehab.

I agree with the hit or miss. A couple of years ago we went in December and the first day it was so cold(all the oranges were frozen) we needed pants and heavy coats to walk around the park but by the 4th day there we were at BB and it was very warm. I DO NOT do cold water and it was plenty warm enough for me to do everything. So I would just play it by ear. Of course when it was freezing my nephew still went in the hotel pool and I sat and watched in jeans and a sweatshirt he said the water was really warm but when he got out he had like steam coming off him because of the drastic change of temp.

BB will be closed for refurbishment till early January, then TL closes for a few months.

This will be our first Dec trip, but when we went Feb 1996, it was the coldest week in FL. It was 30 degrees, which for us was warm because it was below 6 at home. I'm wishing for 70 degree temps lets hope the weather fairies are listening!

Thats terrible, its a new ride so should have planned on heating the pool!

Have you ever seen people wearing those shortie wetsuits to the waterparks when it's chilly? Would you be allowed to?
