Waterparks - Bathing Suits

My one DD is at the age right now where she is not yet a "junior" in clothes and it out of the "children" department. We are leaving for disney in about a week and i can't find a one piece bathing suit for her that fits. We've found a few but they are speedos and she says they don't fit right around her chest. Would she be ok for the waterparks with a two piece??? I am afraid of the falling off part when she rides the slides. I hope you can help.

I think it depends upon what kinds of rides/swimming she will be doing. If you're giong to TL & she's going to be dodging the HUGE waves in the wave pool, I don't think a bikini is a good idea.

My DD11 has never worn a 2 piece to the waterparks though. Someone else will probably come on here & tell you that her DD does all the time.

That's too bad that you can't find a suit that fits her. Have you tried Limited Too for a one piece? That store is geared towards young/preteen girls.

You will love the waterparks!!! We go there several times each trip!!

Lands End has a large range of sizes for their child and adult bathing suits, have you tried their website? Only problem is that it's mailorder, so you can't try on the suit first. Sears carries some Lands End stuff though.

Maybe one of the tankini two-pieces? I'm a very small person (adult though), and nothing looks right one me, but I have found two of these suits in the last couple years that fit pretty well.

I hope you find something that fits her, I know how hard it can be!

I always wear a two piece, and I have never had a problem, I wear a "boy short" bottom. Like someone else suggest, have you looked at tankini tops? I have see lots of them at Target.

I think it's hard for anyone to find the right swimsuit. Good luck!

I have a DD with the exact same problem. I found a suit at Sears in the girls dept. since they have PLUS sizes for kids. She took at 14 1/2. They go up to 18 1/2. It was not to expensive either. It may make her feel good as she will wear a smaller 1/2 size than regular size. Penney's also carries half sizes. DD will not wear a two piece at the water park as when an older girl came down the slide really fast she lost her top. She is afraid of that now.

We've tried Sears for lands end bathing suits and they didn't really have a good selection. I looked on there website and they had one she had had last year but it won't get here in time. I have tried limited too but they have a little selection that fits her right and she is a bit picky b/c she says mom i am almost 13 no one shops there.....I am afraid she is going to loose her top. We will be going to TL. I can't seem to find anything still. I am going to check again for our last minute shopping trip to the mall. Wish me luck

I second the tankini---Its just as modest as the one-piece, but easier when going to the bathroom!

I've had no more bathing suit slide problems with the tankini than with the one piece.

Hi - we're in the same boat with our DD. We walked the entire mall and never even SAW a one piece that would fit her. She ended up fitting into an adult tankini from Land's End and a tankini from Limited Too (the one pieces there were too short). We still have no one piece so she wears a tank top over her suit at water parks - no fun, but it makes her feel better. Good luck!

Well we leave Friday and I just ordered my 2 new suits from Lands End I priority shipped them (for my order it was just $7 more)So you still have time. I would also suggest tankini for water park. Bikinis and water parks don't mix. unless she is just a lie in the sun kind of girl.

I am still thinking about the tankinis.....do they cover your whole stomach?? b/c DD gets cold if the water is cold. I have definatly ruled out the 2 pieces b/c she is a ride freak and she will be going on all of the slides and definatly will go in the wave pool. Also is all the water really cold or does the sun do the warming job??

Lands end tugless tankini- the solid one and the pattern ones with the longer tops- cover all but a thin strip of belly on my dd*but I have to buy her a smaller size because she is thin- so maybe if I bought for her proper age size it would be longer. It is a good stay put suit. Now if you go with the women's get the right kind of bra top-I think they start at a size 6. You can search at landsend by bra style-shelf bra I would think for her. and they sell them as seperates so you can search by mix and match styles.

I always wear a bikini, and do just fine in the TL wave pool. However, I do have problems with it on Humunga Kowabunga at TL and Summit Plummet & Slush Gusher at BB. They have a wide selection from bikinis to one pieces on VictoriasSecret.com. Both of the suits I bought were only $19 for both pieces. They run in a lot of different sizes so i'd check it out. My daughter is 12.5 and we had to buy her yet another swimsuit (this last Disney one didn't last long at all! She only wore it a few times and it was all stretched out and starting to look see thru in some places)- totally unacceptable and we went to a water park that day! So we had to go to the closest place- and believe it or not... we found 2 swimsuits at Walmart! I was in shock- she's usually so hard to find things to fit her!

I got her a one piece. She doesn't really like it and wants a 2pc- but she tried it on before we purchased it and so I knew it fit her properly in all areas. She had to have a 1pc for things like going to church camp, GS camp, and like when they have water parties at school for various parties they earn. But I also got her a 2pc tankini and it actually looks better on her and fits more comfortably. I have 2 of the 2pc tankinis and they both fit fine- even at water parks with major slides/etc. So if you can't find a 1pc- the tankini might work better for her. there's no way I'd let my daughter wear a 2pc at water parks.. I wouldn't even do that. I learned my lesson the hard way about that a LONG time ago. LOL They just aren't made for that type of "activity" (going down slides/etc.) Bikinis are really (IMO) made for more laying out to get sun and some swimming- but nothing super active where it can come off!

I second the poster who suggested Victoria's Secret dot com. They're having a big swim sale and you can search by style (i.e. bikini, tankini, halter top, etc.)

American Eagle and J.Crew both have really cute one-piece suits. American Eagle sizing runs small and might be a good fit. J.Crew also has some cute tankinis. Old Navy has some cute one-pieces.

Target has a wide range of suit styles and is very affordable.

Guess What guys......I found her a ONE PIECE today that fits her perfectly!!!!! We got it from California Sunshine....a little on the expensive side but i was desperate. I am so happy thanks so much for all your help....
