Ok so on my last trip to WDW i rented one of those little two person speed boats out of OKW. we went and saw DTD and SSR and then we decided to go around Port Orleans. While going towards the hotel along the river there were what looked like brown hotel rooms. They were seperate from PO and they were two levels high. I have no idea what they were or which resort they belonged to. I looked online at pictures of the rooms at both PORS and POFQ and i dont see anything like it. This is probably a stupid question but does anyone know what they were??? its driving me nuts!!!

I wonder if you saw the former Disney Institute "treehouse" buildings?? I saw them while taking the boat from DTD back to POR. They were brown, and they were called "tree houses" because the rooms are on the second floor. They currently house the College Program cast members.

That's what I was thinking. Weren't they part of the "disney institute" (is that what it was called?) at one time? They are kind of ugly.

At one time they were part of the DI, but before that they were part of the Lake Buena Vista Villas that could be rented just like any other Disney hotel. Now the Treehouse Villas cannot be used for guests because they cannot be made ADA compliant. Also because the area is environmentally protected they cannot be removed and rebuilt.

thanks a bunch! it was driving me NUTS that i couldn't figure it out! It all makes sense now!

Yup, so they stick the International students from Epcot in there :rotfl2:

They were great!!!
We stayed there in the late 80's and absolutely loved them. We felt like we were really in treehouses. They were the only 3 bedroom accomodations on site at that time, and the only accomodations that had a washer and dryer in the unit.
I would have gone back there again if they had been maintained.
