This isn't really the same thing, but my partner is pretty picky about the taste of her water. We have a plastic souvenir cup from the aquarium that I use to put water in for us when we go out because it's really big, but she said she can taste the plastic & doesn't like it. It tastes fine to me. She also doesn't like water from other places - we went on vacation to PA and she wouldn't drink the tap water there. (She grew up in FL & used to drink that water, but I guess 10 years of living "up north" has made her picky!)

Maybe it's cause NYC has the best tasting water ever!

I was going to say the same thing about "making" the kids drink it:confused3

DH drinks coffee in the mornings and I drink a Coke (I really need to break that habit) but otherwise all 4 of us drink water (tap--run through a Britta filter; our water is very hard) pretty much all day. The kids take it to school also. Now that the weather is so hot, I also send a frozen Capri Sun for each so they have something cold for the train ride home (still 2 weeks of school left here:rolleyes1).

The kids will drink OJ or chocolate milk in the afternoon and then more water with dinner. If we go out we get Soda--sometimes also on the weekend if we grill. (oh and DH and I often have a glass or two of wine in the evenings;)) So probably 75 to 80 percent of what we drink is water.

OT but a train ride home from school sounds cool

We drink a ton of water in this house but it seems that our kids friends don't drink water at their homes, ever! In our house we have a one soda/juice a day rule then it's water or unsweetened iced tea the rest of the time. They've grown up with that as normal.

Our 15 year old went for the weekend with a friend and came home terribly dehydrated. She told me they drank kool-aid, sodas, and "juice" boxes only all weekend. It took her almost three days to feel normal again!

That said.... I have a Diet Pepsi and Diet Dr Pepper addiction. I probably drink a 12 pack a week by myself.

We are a huge water drinking family... My kids drink milk or water only, with maybe a capri sun or two per week (exception if my son has a baseball game he drinks a huge powerade zero throughout because he sweats something fierce and gets lightheaded). We buy bottled water, I find it's easier for the kids to just grab a bottle and drink that throughout the day. I buy the 24oz poland spring sports top bottles at cosco, $6 for a 24-pack, and for us the expense is worth it. I also get dd the little 8oz bottles (cosco brand), not sure how many are in the pack maybe like 50, for $5 or 6...

I do not drink as much water as I should, I'm the worst water drinker of us all. I prefer flavored seltzer water over plain water and drink 1 1liter bottle a day, but honestly water (bubbly or otherwise) makes me pee soooooo much that I get annoyed. I also drink a *tad bit* more diet coke than I should LOL...

ETA - we have water in the door of the fridge which we also drink if we are out of bottled... again we buy the bottled because of convenience, not because we don't like our tap water... if I don't drink seltzer, I drink the fridge door water :)

we all drink water but I add crystal lite packets or any non-sugared packets.

I drink water at work but DS drinks way more water than I do. Plus he drinks low fat milk and low fat chocolate milk and Sunkist. I drink Coke Zero and a lot of hot tea.

The best thing we ever did was get a fridge with water and ice in the door, that was the turning point of our family and drinking water. I'm not a huge water drinker (I'm not a big drinker period), but my kids all drinks lots of water, I barely have any juice in my house besides OJ.

Water haters, why don't you flavor it with fruit or lemon? I have a cousin who gets a big pitcher of water and slices up lots of oranges, lemons, limes, and puts in the pitcher with ice and water. It's pretty tasty.

Maybe that'll help you.

Ang

Oh I LOVE doing that. :) It's soooooooo good, and so refreshing. :)

Us too, but we don't have ice, just water. :) But we all agree it was a GREAT investment. :)

OP I wasn't upset or offended, I just wanted to point out my girls drink water by choice. DD14 drinks water or milk almost all the time, she usually only drinks soda when we eat out. :) DD10 drinks water or juice, and soda when we eat out. I drink tea or water and DBF just drinks water all day. Of course if we have sodas he drinks those...LOL :)

I basically drink 3 things: water, coffee, and wine. Of course I'll drink an occasional OJ or margarita too!

Maybe more people than you think drink a lot of water. Most of the people I know drink water but they are active people so that has a lot to do with it. (edited)

I think you are right. More people do drink water than I expected. My children are very very active and we are at the soccer fields what feels like daily. Most of the parents drink lattes, iced coffees, pops, and sugar drink. Seldom do they have water. I have mentioned it and they say "we don't drink water" which I found unusual.

Friends on nights out, even to movies always have sodas. I on the other hand carry my 32oz. water with me everywhere. I can't even get down a fountain soda unless it's child size.

I am glad I was wrong. After all, as I started in the title it is a budget-friendly addition to anyone's life.

I really liked the idea of putting in lemons, limes, and oranges in the water. I will try that. I have an old Brita filter I don't use, and quite a few cartridges left. Do you squeeze the fruits or just set them in and let them do there work. Would putting it in the sun like tea help distribute the flavors.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I also think water hints for non-water drinkers may help also.

DH has always been a water drinker. I was a coke addict all my life, but went cold turkey in February, and have been drinking water ever since!!

Here's something though....when we go to restaurants I always feel like the waiter thinks we're cheap by just ordering water! I know I shouldn't care, but I hate that feeling! I don't drink soda or iced tea though, and really just want water! Luckily DH orders a beer sometimes, so then I don't feel so guilty for ordering my water! LOL!!!!

DD and I are water drinker. DH is getting into it a little, but drinks mostly soda. To me it's not really savings because our water is hard well water and it tastes awful. DD can't have hard well water and I can't stand the taste of it. So yeah bottled water for us, I drink water but I'm bad for the environment... :(
Trust me I've tried britta pitcher, filter straight from the tap, whatever you can think of... it still tastes awful awful awful.
Big plus of my house, the immediate neighbor and I are the only 2 houses on the road that can drink our water straight from the tap. Our well is at 50 feet and we have no filter, softener, nothing. It is pumped right from the ground into the pressure tank, from the pressure tank to our taps. I drink it straight out of the tap.

A new house was just built across the road. They drilled and drilled and drilled and drilled. I talked to the soon-to-be owners and they said they were at 250 feet. The water coming out looked like red paint. I think they tried 3 drilling 3 different areas. Not sure what they ever did.

As for do I drink water? In the summers, it is HOT at work. At Disney in the beginning of June, it was 100+ degrees out. My wife was dying, but I was fine with it. After all, it wasn't nearly as hot and humid as it is at work. I probably drink 5 gallons of water a day.

My wife complains about me taking a can of Pepsi to work. "That's not good for you..." she says. Well, with drinking 5 gallons of water throughout the day, I could really use something with flavor when I'm eating lunch, thus I choose Pepsi because I like it.

We all drink lots of water here. There is no "making", my girls will opt for water over just about any other drink. We never have soda in the house, but the girls are allowed to drink anything they want when we eat out. They still will choose water or tea every time.

At home all we drink is water and some juice, only when I go out to eat do I drink soda.We probably go through 2 24 packs of bottled water a week.

Just slice the citrus fruits and put them in your pitcher, no need to squeeze them, the flavors will seep into the water. I've done it before on a hot day and our favorite Thai place always has lime in their water. The girls didn't like it at first but now they love it, they always say "can we go to the Thai place? they have yummy water" LOL Of course dining out is very scarce these days in our family. :)

My mom 's theory-she'll drink water all day long...as long as it has tea in it!!!

I force myself to drink water...prefer coffee and my favorite diet cola. :confused3

I drink between 96 and 130 ounces a day. Sometimes I have a little bit of milk and only drink one soda on the weekend if at all. I love water. My kids drink it as well.

It's crazy, this thread made me realize that we sat here all day and didn't drink water. Breakfast and dinner we always give the kids choc milk, lunch is iced tea or milk too. School time they get water for lunch. We all like water and use tap or bottled.

My kids drink water a lot. Son almost exclusively. 2 of them do drink diet soda somewhat. They don't drink milk( none of us like it) and they don't like juice, never have.

both boys are VERY active in sports and both of them prefer water over any sports drink. They won't even drink propel just water, straight up. lol

I drink some but not as much as I should. Does 4 cups of coffee count as water";)
