This will be my first time at FW (1st time back at WDW in 20 yrs actually)

I have 4 little kids (4.5, 4.5, almost 3 and 1.5) If my 4 yr olds want to go down the FW water slide can my DH or myself stand in the pool near the bottom of the slide to catch them so to speak? They will be wearing their Puddle Jumper life vests and swim well with them but I imagine they will be nervous and disoriented the first several times.

Yes, parents are often at the bottom as their kids come down.

I saw one episode in April where a little, LITTLE kid came down the slide, hit the water, and was a little stunned. Didn't paddle out of the way, etc. No parent around. The lifeguard had to hit the button, jump in, and scoop the kid out or else the next person would have plowed right into him. So thanks to you and DH for being good parents.

the lifeguards wont let you get directly at the bottom of the slide, but that isnt where you want to be anyway. Position yourself about 6-8 feet away and to the side of the water flow from the slide, and you can catch them there. My kid wasnt the strongest swimmer and wore a life jacket last time, but she was comfortable with the slide in no time!

Keep your eyes open, I actually scored a save of a sputtering young-un, ending with a quick handoff to the lifeguard who jumped in

Great thanks! I have no probs helping out another kiddo. I was a life guard myself back in the day.

There is a perfect spot just to the left of the slide (as you're facing it) where you're out of the way of others coming down the slide but still in perfect position to see up to the platform at the top to see your kids in line and getting into position to slide. Once you that they are next to come down, you move into position to catch. :thumbsup2
