Water Skiing at Disney

Does anyone really do this? I live in South Florida, and I am firm believer in the saying that if there is water in Florida, there is an alligator. I've seen alligators in Disney water, so how does WDW ensure no alligator finds it way each day into that huge lake?

I used to ski in Lake Norman and sure we had snakes, and there were little fish that liked to nibble on a mole right at the edge of my bikini bottom while I'm yelling for the boat driver to go. But an alligator? No thank you!

It's offered at the Contemporary marina along with the parasailing. I've never seen anyone do it either. Makes you wonder why they even offer it.

I grew up swimming in a river that had alligators. Apparently I (AND MY PARENTS....who endorsed swimming in said river!) was more insane then.

(For the record, we had a family friend who had no issues with jumping off the roof of a houseboat to roll around in the water with an alligator for fun. I guess our swimming when we DIDN'T see gators was *sane* in comparison...LOL! He had other issues too though...)

~ps~ I don't think they usually attack speeding targets, so I'd feel safer on Skis than I would swimming.

I was just thinking about when you are sitting in the water getting your skis positioned and before the boat took off.
