Water parks & swim suits oh my

We are planning our first trip to a water park this trip. I've lost a noticeable amount of weight but am not thin by any stretch. I'm doing this for my boys because it means a lot to them. That all being said - I found a swimsuit I dont hate. Mind you I don't LOVE it but anyhow, after 30 suits in a 4x4 dressing room at target, Dillard's etc I'm finally settled on this suit. One problem - it has small metal clasps / hooks where the straps adjust (think like the sliders on a bra strap ladies). I think I recall no metal on slides... Is this going to be an issue??? If so I'll keep shopping (BOO!)

Sadly, it's a no. You cannot have any exposed metal at all. Every woman here sympathizes with your hunt for the perfect suit. Best of luck.

I wouldn't expect that to be an issue. I doubt any CM will be looking that closely at your straps. Congrats on finding something you can tolerate. I'd venture to say 75% of women hate swimsuits, regardless of their size; they're very unforgiving . Just know no Disney waterpark is full of swimsuit models, and after a little bit, I think you'll be having enough fun that you will forget to be self conscious about it. Have fun!!

Try looking for a swim shirt. The are on sale now that summer is almost over. I find I'm really comfortable running around the water parks in a swim shirt and swim shorts or skorts. The shirt also protects me from sunburn. Right now I've been liking the pieces from Athleta.

I dont know what is you size, but I m a size 18 and I found great 2 part swimsuit at waltmart that are cheap but really flattering

Do you wear a swim suit underneath or just the shirt?

I feel you, OP. My son is taking swim lessons, and all the instructors wear long-sleeved swim shirts and board shorts for sun protection. It may be something to consider. You could even wear it over the bathing suit you don't hate. It would give you options depending on how comfortable you feel. It would also cover the metal straps you're worried about.

Last year, my 20th high school reunion had a function at a water park, which I dreaded. I found a cover-up at Kmart of all places, but it covered pretty well my belly and thighs (and I'm not tiny by any means). It was just a shirt made of lace-looking mesh that went out in an A-frame and stopped mid thigh. I could wear it in the water, and it dried quickly in the sun. Something else to consider.

Keep in mind most women at WDW water parks are moms like us. The swim suit models do their Florida vacations at South Beach. Good luck.

I just bought a swim shirt for the first time and I will wear it with a bikini top under - much like you would a bra. My daughter wears a sports bra under hers - the same ones she would wear to the gym, spandex type.

Check out lands end. They have great suits for every size. I am a chunky lady myself and have several of their suits because they cover what I don't want to show and make me feel a little better about myself. They might cost more than a suit from target, walmart, etc. But my suits were bought off season, on sale or clearance and still look like new after almost ten years.

Congrats on the weight loss! Every time I go I also wear the shorts and swim shirt option, or a snug fitting tank top with my bathing suit underneath.

I second Athleta- they have the best suits. I saw cute rash guards at lands end a few days ago as well. I always wear one because Iam extremely fair

I have worn my lands end swim suits at the water parks and the have metal adjusters on straps and no one said a word. I also have a swim shirt I can put on over it if hey do have an issue with it but it was never even mentioned and I had completely forgotten about the no metal rule.

I think all of my swimsuits have little metal clasps like you're describing. I've been to the water parks close to 10 times and no one has ever said a word to me.

I didn't know you could return them to Sears / that's great to know! I live in a small community & have to drive 25 miles to the nearest mall - in a small town & nothing compared to big metropolis areas so our options are pretty limited. Thank you all!

They say no metal, but what is on your suit is so small, they won't bother. I think a majority of women's suits have that now. However, I, also, recommend a swim shirt over the suit for sun protection. I am extremely fair skinned and wearing the swim shirt and board shorts keeps me from having to put sunscreen all over. I hate the feel of it.

By they way, the no metal thing is only for the body slides. I wore a hinged, metal knee brace on all the tube chutes and lazy rivers. The only thing they would not let me on was the body slides.
