Water parks/resort swimming in December

I noticed Typhoon Lagoon will be open during our December 3-10 trip. We are also staying at BCV. I want the kids to be able to swim, but I am perplexed as to how people walk around Typhoon Lagoon or Stormalong Bay during that time of year. I ordered some wetsuits for the kids but are my husband and I going to freeze to death following the kids to and down the slides?

You might. Or might not. It can be pleasant, or bone chilling in December. There are days during winter they close the water park for being too cold. Should have gotten the wetsuits for you. The kids are usually more tolerant of the cool weather than us adults!

December can be in the 80's or it can be in the 60's. Just look at the temps yesterday and then look at the temps today.
So it can be plenty warm enough to walk around in a wet suit or it can not be.
You may or may not freeze on your trip.

A few years ago it got down to 25 deg one night when I was there the first week of December. That was an anomaly. Other times it has been fine for water parks. Normally it is somewhat cool, but not necessarily unpleasant for a water park if the day is sunny. The water is heated. It really does just depend on the weather that day. If you are having to wear wet suits is it really worth it? Make sure to have a backup plan if it isn't warm enough.

We go in January and we have alway been able to go to the waterpark at least one day of our trip.

A few years ago we went in December. A friend of mine texted me a picture of his backyard after they received over a foot of snow back home in Wisconsin. I texted back a picture of me in the Contemporary pool. So yeah, odds are pretty good that you'll be able to enjoy the waterpark at least once.

We did Blizzard Beach in December last year, we had a great time. It was soo empty. There were like 7 cars in the parking lot. No lines ever, the water was great. It was kinda cold, but we got used to it. We are coming back again in December and we are planning on doing Typhoon Lagoon.

Twice when we went during the first week of January, both weeks were in the mid 80s in the day and beautiful for a swim. We were in tank tops and shorts in the day and a light sweater and jeans at night. Of course like everyone else has said it really can go either way, but we swam the entire trip both times. That said the weeks surrounding both trips were brutally cold so we definitely got lucky!

Today Typhoon Lagoon was closed because of low temperatures; the day started in the high 40s and moved up to the mid 60s. So whether you can tolerate the cold or not, you might not have the water park as an option.

Having said that, I think you should be able to have at least one day in December that is comfortable for swimming.

Southern California girl here planning to spend Xmas at WDW with family (family reunion). Wondering what the weather is like on average. We have gone to WDW in the past during September so first time in December and first time during the holidays. Suggestions would be great.

Thing is, in the SE there is no such thing as "on avg".
It can and does swing drastically.
Just look at this week alone. Sunday was in the upper 70's and warm/sunny and Monday was in the 50's and cold.
That is perfectly normal for FL anytime that isn't summer.
You will need layers. You may not need them but you had better be ready to wear shorts/tanks and jeans/sweaters. Maybe even on the same day.

It depends on the weather. It's not always cold in December but definitely could be.

I will go with it depends. We went one year and the kids swam because it was in the low 80s. Two days later it never got out of the 40s. I've been in March when it was in the 30s and I did boot camp in Orlando when it hit the upper 90s every day almost every day of March.
