Welll, I've done it - taken the plunge and made reservations at FW for 12/19/06 - 12/30/06. Now, in planning and budgeting for ticket cost, I need to ask - does anyone do the water parks in December? Thanks in advance. :flower:

We were just there December 15-26. When planning the trip, I had the same question you did about whether we'd be able to do the water parks. I planned to purchase the tickets ahead of time through Ticketmania to get a discount, but I wasn't sure which tickets to buy: the base ticket, or the base ticket with plus options. I ended up getting 8 day base tickets figuring that I could add the plus option once I got there and saw the weather forecast for the week. I'm glad I did this. It turned out that we did have several very nice and sunny days, but the temp was only lower to mid 70's. It was fine for us to use our resort pool, but probably would have been too cool for the waterparks. So that saved me $45 a piece by not getting the plus option.

Another reason I wanted the plus option was so we could go to Disney Quest. But while at Disney, I made a call to Ticketmania to purchase DQ tickets and they delivered the tickets right to our resort the same day for $10. The DQ tickets were about $20 each, which was quite a large discount from the door price, and still less than the $45 plus option.

I also did not purchase the park hopper option, which was another question I had when deciding which tickets to purchase. This ended up being a good choice as well. At MGM, we were there the entire day (2 days) because there was so much to do, so hopping wasn't necessary. With Epcot and MK, we went in the morning, went back to our resort for an afternoon break, and then returned to the same park for th evening. For Animal Kingdom, we were there from 9-5, and then spent the evening at our resort, too tired to go anywhere else. We never felt the need to go to more than one park in a day.

This is kind of more than your question asked, but hope it helps.

We were there 12/2-12/17 it was perfect some of those days and tooooo cold others. Your best bet is to just pay to go in on the day of, if you decide to. It depends on how cold your willing to go since the water is heated. We did go one day when it was in the low 70s but I found it too cold to get out of the wave pool, and the lazy river.

Thanks for the reply, and congratulations on your marriage! May it be a long and happy one! :lovestruc

It depends on how hearty you are We were just there 12/17 thru 12/26 and we were wearing long pants and sweatshirts while the resort bus stopped to pick up people at the water parks who were dressed in bathing suits and wrapped in a towel.

We were there in Dec. '04 and returning in Dec. '06. Last day of the trip, we went to Typhoon Lagoon and it was a beautiful day. As the other poster wrote, it can be hit or miss in December, but we were there early in the month and there was only one day that would have prohibited going to the water park.

We were there Dec. 11-18 and we had one day in the mid 70's, the rest of the week had a high of 65. You never know what the weather will do though, it's a tricky thing! :earsboy:

We were there 12-16-05 to 12-23-05, and did not swim or even wear shorts once. It was warmer at home in PA than in Orlando at one night :sad1:

Wow, reading the post above mine, I guess my family lucked out. We went from 12-23-05 through 1-2-06 and got amazing weather. It was beautiful. We didn't go to any water parks but New Years Eve day, we went into the quiet pool at our hotel and timeshare, BCV and it was cold once we got out of the pool. That was the only day we went swimming. I wore shorts pretty much everyday but then changed to pants at night and put on a sweatshirt. December is a hard month to judge when it comes to weather because it can be nice and warm one day, and the next it can be cold and nasty.
