Water parks and Epi-pens

We will be going to the water parks for the first time since learning my son has an anaphylactic bee sting allergy. I see that I can buy waterproof, waist-pack style Epi-pen holders, but will we be able to ride the slides with these? If not, I'm very nervous to have him waiting in those long lines without his Epi close by. Even if one of us doesn't go on the ride and waits at the exit, it is still a long way/time from the entrance to the exit of the ride. And this would also eliminate any chance of being able to ride anything as a whole family (thinking of the family raft ride) or of my being able to go on any rides with my sons if my husband goes to the little kid sections with my daughter. Anyone have experience with this situation that can give me some suggestions?

Many boys' swimsuits have pockets with Velcro flaps. They work great for epipens.

I bet @WebmasterCorey could answer. When he gets home from Mardi Gras. If you don't get an answer, send him a private message or email. He was a lifeguard at Blizzard.

I remember reading news that all first aid stations have epipens now and it's been successful and added to disney cruises now. I don't now much details and it's not really what your asking but might be worth learning about in case you do need it and something is wrong with the ones you bring.

My son has always been able to wear his EpiPen waist pack on rides. As long as it has the medic alert symbol. He wears it facing forward (so the pouch is at his stomach). If he needs to remove it for a ride, one of us can hold it and go down with it in our hands, like you might with sunglasses. But that has never happened.

One word of caution (and my dd carries epis also.) We've been to one of the waterparks, though I honestly don't remember which one. It had a super fast slide that emptied into a deep pool. Talking to the CM at the end of it, she said that items were frequently ripped off of patrons (glasses, etc.) and that if that happened, you were not allowed to go searching for it in the water. They were very strict about telling people "Out of the water, now!" in a friendly WDW sort of way. So I'd be careful with that one slide. I'm going to assume that both parks have a similar sort of slide.

Auvi-Q's fit in pockets better, but there has be a recall on them. I'm not sure if they are being sold again. We've never bought a special waterproof bag. Just double zip-lock bagged them and we've never had a problem. Dd has carried epis for 13 years.
