I will be travelling in September with my 2 yr old DD and 4 yr old ds (and my DH.) I will be 7 months pregnant also. which water park is better for the kids?

BB or TL?

TIA

Honestly, we've never done the water parks with our kids. The pools at the resorts are usually so fun, and we would just swim for a while, not go all day.

We always either had park hopper tickets or annual passes, so didn't get the water parks option.

My DH and I have been to both before we had kids, though, and loved TL. I liked the wave pool and the lazy river - the river may be fun, but I don't know about young kids? Also, be careful not to overdo it being pregnant.

We went last year with our 1 year old and we enjoyed Blizzard Beach more. There were more things for her to do and it was less busy. I'll be 6 months pregnant when we go next week. So, it will be a very different experience! Have fun!!

My recommendation would be for Typhoon Lagoon. They have a really nice kiddy area and it is much more shaded that BB.

We did both and Blizzard Beach was so much better. I didn't like Typhoon Lagoon as in the kiddie area there are water guns that the kids can shoot and my youngest DS HATED getting randomly splashed so that meant avoiding half the kiddie area.

I just liked BB better overall - TL was fun, but I wouldn't go back until the kids are older, esp. as the biggest feature of TL is the wave pool and the boys aren't going in that until they're much older.

Plus, BB has Teamboat Springs - the family raft ride which was awesome and we went on it 4 times. The climb to get up to it is a bit of a hike, but it was so much fun!

Never done the water parks with my kids- the resort pools have always been enough. But from what I hear Typhoon Lagoon is better for the smaller kiddies. I hear Blizzard Beach is more for older kids.

I haven't been yet, but have been reading, researching and have asked the same question. I plan to take my kids (DS turns 5 that week, DD3 and DD1) to Blizzard Beach. The big feature that everyone loves about TL seems to be the wave pool and if you aren't carefull and your kids don't heed the waves I have heard of a number of people getting the backsides scraped up. Also, no interest in the shark swimming. BB seems to have a great kids area and the family ride seems to definitely get better ratings from people. Also, my kids already love slides and I think it seems BB has a few more they are big enough to do. I would say though that everyone seems to agree that TL has more shade (which would be nice cause both of my DD's are redheads!) but we will have to just get there early and try to find shade.

We like TL for all the shade that it provides. BB is supposed to be a beach and doesn't provide for as much shade. We took our 4 month old last September and took turns sitting in the shade with her and had a blast. She did her first lazy river ride at 4 months with a big floppy hat, I'll always have that memory.

Cheers,

Brian

We were just there this past June, I would say Blizzard Beach. The wave pool there has nice , gentle waves.
Althought I like TL, the wave pool knocks ME down as well as my kids. DS 4 got badly scraped in the wave pool, even though he was holding my hand.
Both parks have lazy rivers and nice kiddie areas/

I used to be a lifeguard at BB and usually I will tell people to take their kids to Typhoon... but with them being 2 & 4 you might be better off at Blizzard... Kids over 5 or 6 always seemed to prefer Typhoon, it has more "action" and a MUCH larger wave pool (if you plan on going in it) - but with kids that little I'd actually suggest Blizzard...

We rarely go to water parks as well. We use the hotel pool mostly. We did BB in 2002 when DS was 5 and it was fine.

In 2006, we went to TL this time DS was 9 and DD was 2.5. She loved the kids area. She didn't go over to the area with the water sprayer. She rode the little tube slide over, and over, and over. The other thing I liked about TL was that while DS and DH were riding the 3 water coasters, there was a zero depth pool right there, and DD and I played in the water there. It was nice being closer to them for awhile.

We have the same decision to make, we are only going for a couple of hours but I thought Typhoon Lagoon because of the shade, we only plan really on doing the kids bit and maybe the lazy river thing. They will be 11 months and 2.5.

Would this be the better option for this age?

How much can you get done at BB from open til 1pm? We would go from 10-1 on our last day, then head back to the hotel for evening flights. It really is the only day we can go. We will mostly do stuff that DD5 can do but DD9 will go on a few of the biggies on her own, IS 3 hrs enough?

We took DS last year when he was 10 months old to Typhoon Lagoon. I enjoyed the kiddie area and I would occasionally walk with him in the shallow area of the wave pool. I'm not a big fan of the slides at either park, so I prefer TL for the wave pool and relaxing areas.

Actully according to allears we only have the option of Tyhoon Lagoon, as Blizzard Beach is shut for maintenance. So that is where we will be. Hopefully it will be the best one for the kids.
