Water Park in December

What are the water parks like in December. Planning a trip for the first week in December. I believe that the water in the pools are heated. What would the outside temperatures be like.

I am going to be honest and tell you that I don't know the exact temperatures...but I have been twice in Dec and have never gone to a water park because I think it is just too darn cold walking around outside soaking wet. Again, YMMV, but I personally think it is a bit too chilly to really enjoy a water park! Have fun in December..I love that time of year!

I wouldnt try a waterpark in Dec. Yes the pools are heated, but you spend alot of time walking around soaking wet. And wet can feel aweful at 80 degrees.

It really depends on what you are used to . . . I'm very used to swimming outside at 70 degrees in 60 degree water or colder (as long as I jump out to warm up often enough!), and I've yet to be in Florida when it was colder than that during the day so we always hit a water park, even in december. For me it's great, but then again there are also a lot of people complaining that it's cold.

We visited WDW for a quick 3 day stay while passing through to Miami 3 years ago. We were there late Dec. for New Years eve. Our weather was beautiful and warm, shorts during the day and a sweatshirt at night. We ddidn't visit a water park due to the short stay but the weather would have been just great for a water park visit. We did swim in the resort pool everyday. You just never know the weather that time of year. The year prior we were there slightly earlier in December and nearly froze, had to buy fleece jackets and mittens. Watch the weather and be ready for anything. We are going down over Thanksgiving this year for 10 days, I am hoping for warm weather as well with hopes to visit a water park. We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed. Have a great trip.

Just an FYI:

According to the calender on the WDW site a couple of days ago, Blizzard Beach is closed for refurb for all of December, so Typhoon Lagoon will be the only WP operating.

I don't even plan on going to a water park. I just have to have the opening and closing times for ever park on my neat little schedules in my neat little binder. Sad, isn't it?

My advice is to plan your itinerary so as to remain flexible. That way, if the day you planned for a water park turns out too cold, you just put it on another day.

We have visited in December many times and have always gone to waterparks - only one unfortunately b/c one is always closed for repair. The weather is iffy, but has always contained at least 2 days in the mid-80's, which is more than fine for us Northeasteners.
The perfect thing is that you don't have to wait 30 minutes to get a tube or take a slide. The crowds are fairly thin and you can always snag a lounge chair.
