Water park closings

I will be in WDW in December and am hoping that at least one of the water parks is open. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have read that they typically close one and leave the other open, rotating by week or month. Has anyone been down the second week of December and gone to the water parks, did you ejoy it, was it too cold, etc...

nothing like laying out in the sun at Blizzard Beach listening to christmas carols in December!

we've been twice during the 2nd week of december - 99 and 01 - both times had 'swim friendly' weather. Typhoon Lagoon was closed, but Blizzard Beach was open.

I read somewhere an the disney site that they only close 1 water-park for referb at a time, so 1 is allways open.

When we visited last early December, I believe BB was closed but TL was open. We didn't go as the temperatures were a little cool at the time (mid 60s). In fact, on Sat Dec 6th it was in the low 50s in the morning. I felt sorry for those who only brought short sleeve shirts and shorts on their visit. A lot people were jumping up and down trying to keep warm.

The Disney resort pools were heated so it was comfortable to swimming there, but I imagine it was a little nippy at the water parks.

For 2003, Blizzard Beach was rehabed from October 26 to December 14. Typhoon Lagoon closed on December 14 and reopened in February 2004.

You are correct. There was a period where they were closing parks on alternate weeks (not rehabs) it is the first time this was done and we will have to wait and see if it carries over.

I believe they were closed Sun-Thurs and open Friday/Saturday.
