water in POTC boats still an issue! (small rant)

We rode in May of last year - front row and we got SOAKED - hair and all!!! No, it did not ruin my day, but I was more than irritated as I was not prepared for it. My handbag got wet as well.

For those that say it's a water ride what do you expect? - Sorry, but in my past 20+years of riding, I have never had this issue on POTC, why would I expect it now??

A face full of dirty water was not pleasant - and my mouth was open!!!!!

We were down in January (1/19 - 1/27) of this year - we rode pirates a few times (3 maybe 4) - we did not see any water in the boat but we did sit in the very back each time (asked for it). It felt like they were slowing the boat as it went down the incline ....

I rode twice during my trip last week. One time we only got hit by the water cannons. The second time, the floor of the boat was already quite wet when we got in, and the first few rows were hit with more water during the drop.

when we were there a few weeks ago the CM loading was asking everyone if they minded getting wet...if so then they were stuck in the front. We never sat further up from the 3rd row and were fine. We never had standing water in the boat.

Water ride = Kali
Boat ride = PotC, IASW, LwtL

Well said.

We can infer from this thread: 1) POTC always used to be a boat ride where riders would only get a teeny bit wet on occasion, 2) a refurb happened with boats being replaced among other things, 3) after refurb, guests and boats were utterly drenched and 4) now lately boats have almost no water in them and guests, with the exception of the first row, are remaining relatively dry.

Safe to say that something has changed. I hope this ride remains a "boat ride".

Well....I definitely was there in July. The week of the 06th...and I did set sail with them pirates. Guess I've been lucky so as to not experience heavy rain storms while setting sail on the high and not so high seas. :)

Pirates was definitely closed from June 8 - September 25, 2015. We were there at the end of June. It was closed. Other family members were there in July. It was closed. Friends were there in August. It was closed. Perhaps you're thinking of a different trip. Or maybe I'm missing a "joke" in your comment. :confused3

I also thought it was closed in July

Here now, rode Pirates twice already and thankfully didn't see any water issues. Rode in 2nd & 3rd seats. I 'think' the first row may have gotten some splash, but not much. I like the ride, but was very leary after reading this, but saw 'no' water in boats at all!

Maybe you are thinking of WDW. I know when my trip was. It was the week of July 06, 2015. And at Disneyland, in Anaheim Ca. I rode that ride. I dined at Blue Bayou and watched fully loaded boats sail by. The dates you are referring to are for WDW last year during that time frame, not Disneyland Ca.

Yes, on this thread we're discussing POTC at Walt Disney World, not Disneyland. That explains why you were able to ride it in July 2015 -- you weren't riding the one being discussed on this thread.

I haven't experienced getting water in the boat since the boats were replaced yet & I'm there every couple of months. I've been in the first row & the last row. But it does make sense that it will depend on the total weight of the boat & how the CMs load it.

this entire thread is about POTC at WDW.
perhaps it would have benefited you to read the first post.

And perhaps you don't have to be so snarky about it.Glad I don't go to WDW.
I didn't read the first several pages. I am sure I am not the only guilty person on that subject. Maybe the OP could have included WDW in their thread title.

These threads tend to be about WDW by default, since it's the bigger park (and it also reads "These forums focus on topics important to planning your Disney World vacation." underneath the Disney Trip Planning forum, as a description, if you take a look). There is a Disneyland specific area in the forums further down.

you're talking to the OP.

i placed my thread in the theme parks attractions and strategies section.
this is the description of that section.
Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies
Discuss vacation planning, tips, tricks and strategies for the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, including Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot.

it should be assumed that someone is talking about WDW if the thread is placed in that section.

had i been talking about the disneyland version i would have placed it in the disneyland section.

besides i mentioned reading the first post because i specifically mentioned MK.

i perceived your comments as very snarky, not to mention all knowing.. so perhaps we both need to work on some things.

We were there yesterday. Sat in 2nd row, some family in first row. First row got drenched, 2nd row got wet. I got wetter on Pirates than I did first row in Splash Mtn.. Last week when we were on Pirates water came over the side of the boat after the drop and I was in the fourth row. I expect to get wet on Splash, but not clothes wringing out drenched on Pirates.

I did not see that. Most likely for being on my phone.
Obviously we all have nothing better to do with our time but to defend ourselves over a trivial matter.
