water in February

I had never thought of this until I saw a thread somewhere else - probably one of the FB Disney Cruise groups I am in.
Anyway, the OP was asking if the water at Castaway Cay would be too cold in February to enjoy swimming. Personally, I am assuming since I am used to swimming at Hampton Beach, NH or beaches at Narragansett, RI it is unlikely I will find the Caribbean cold, even in February.
Thoughts?

We cruised this past February and there were plenty of people in the water at CC. My husband was in and out of the water with the younger cousins and I don't remember hearing many complaints about the water being cold. Our Best Man and Maid of Honor were in the water for quite a while too! However, I'm sure it was at least a little chilly! I didn't personally go in the water myself because we'd just gotten married and I wanted to keep my hair nice for Palo that night : ) P/S/ Cruising in February is the BEST! Have fun!

We've sailed over summer and fall, but never in February. However, one November cruise was the coldest water we have ever felt. Went in October 2014 and hardly anyone was in the water -- just freezing. But all our other cruises from September through December the waters were great. So it's a crap shoot really -- I've been told it depends on the tides and if there were hurricanes in the Atlantic they tend to kick up the waters and sometimes bring warmer waters -- or unusually colder waters.

This year was El Nino, though. The east coast of Florida had warmer than usual water, too.

Sailed in Feb this year, it was chilly enough to give you pause getting in. Though it wasn't shivering or anything like that. Manged Pelican plunge for sure.

Freezing. You have to force yourself to go in. Which I did for about 5 minutes. But it is still beautiful and the prices are good in February.

73º is chilly? lololol That's darn near balmy for us New Englanders. The record high for Hampton Beach, NH in July & August is 69º.
Narragansett creeps into the low 70's, but I have only been there twice.

I've heard mixed reviews, but when we went in both December and January/Feb, we were able to swim at CC. We spent more time in the water in December, but it still was enjoyable in Feb. The currents seems to cause CC to have cooler water temps, but if you are ok with New England beaches, you're good! I'm from RI and we were worried on our first cruise. Come to find out CC's average water temps in Feb are about equal to the water temps here in August!!

I was there end of February and we were all in the water all day. It wasn't warm but it wasn't freezing either. As Disney would say, it's refreshing!!

I lived in Hampton for six years and live 20 minutes away now, and never enjoyed going in above my knees, but when we went to CC in Feb, two trips, I went swimming both times. Once was cold and raining, but I still was able to get in. The other time was cool, but I stayed in, just wasn't as nice as CC in April.

You will be fine. We are hardy New Englanders! Makes me chuckle to see people in winter coats at WDW, and we're in shorts, or the lifeguards covered head to toe while we have the pool to ourselves.

Massachusetts gal here - we swam last February. Nothing compared to the water off the Cape in June and July!

You'll be fine. Sometimes it can feel cold to those of us with thin blood but don't think you'll have a problem.

We went in mid-December and the outside temp was around 75 degrees and water wasn't too bad. If you've swam at Hampton Beach then you shouldn't be too cold I would think. I'm from up that way but live in TN now. I'll never forget the first time I watched DH get in the water at Hampton Beach! He'd only been in the southern parts of the ocean prior to that.

It is cool but not cold by a long shot. Around 73 to 75 in February at CC. We have sailed once at the end of January/beginning of February and to us it was like swimming in Blue Springs (Florida) which has a year round temperature of 73.

We were at CC end of Feb this year. We were able to snorkel and felt fine after a few minutes. I am always cold and was able to get in and adjust.

We always cruise in Feb and have not found the water to be anything like cold! It's not as warm as in the Caribbean but is still a pleasant temp. However we are from the UK and are used to very cold sea!!

I grew up swimming in the Pacific Ocean, which is pretty cold. I've been in the waters at CC in January, March, and May, and spent most of the day in them. You hardy New Englanders will be just fine!
