We currently have a faucet mounted Pur filter for a single sink at church. We run through filters so quickly!

I have been looking at under sink water filtration systems, but there are so many different types.

Just looking for input on different methods of filtering cold water from the sink.

Thanks!
Dawn

We have had reverse osmosis in the last 2 houses, as the water in Phoenix was very hard. We purchased at Lowe's, and I think they had 3 different models and we went for the mid-level model. Loved the water, better than bottled water. For upkeep, we had it cleaned and sanitized about once a year, never had any trouble.
We are in an apartment now, but when we get back into our own home again we will definitely do again.

We have a reverse osmosis system...........also in the Phoenix area. The water here is terrible.
Love it!! It came with the house, but I have seen them at Costco.

The simplest and most cost effective unit will be a undersink carbon/charcoal filter with a dedicated faucet on the sink. Reverse Osmosis systems are great fillters, but are usually used in conjunction with a water softener to make sure none of the salt (sodium) makes it into the drinking water. RO systems do nothing for softening water.

We did not have a water softener, just the reverse osmosis. There are systems like Kinetico, that are for your whole house and then you don't need a separate RO system, but they are expensive. But I always wanted one, as then the shower doors stay sparkling clean.

hello -- I like to revive this old thread. Can anyone share the costs for filters. Is there a separate gadget for showers?

the water is sooo hard here where I live...just a cloud of white on the glass door.

If you house had very hard water, it makes more sense to put a water softener where the line enters the house. EVERYWHERE (i.e. sinks/showers/dishwasher/washing machine) in the house you use hot water will have that same issue.
