Water bottle refill stations?

Are water bottle refill stations located throughout the parks and Disney Springs? If so is there a list somewhere of all their locations? Is the water nice and cold? Thank you!

No. Not “throughout” the parks, there are very few and they aren’t always practical.
  • There is only in the MK (inside Cosmic Rays) and I think its been turned off since the parks reopened.
  • The only two in AK are in the ride queues in Pandora (if you aren’t in line, you can’t get to them).
  • DHS also only had two and both are in Galaxy’s Edge (near bathrooms), but at least they are accessible.
  • The most spread out are in EP, but there are still only two in the whole park. One inside the old Odyssey building between FW/WS, and the other at the new bathrooms at the other end of the FW/WS border.

I will say the one in Galaxy's Edge, right outside the marketplace near the "refreshers" was accessible, and cold. We used it the most, as you could swing by while in that area of the park.

There are refill stations at each "end" of the Skyliner, so one at the restrooms outside of EPCOT (at the gateway), and one outside the restrooms at DHS (at the Skyliner station). They weren't as cold, but still fine.

There are lots of water fountains so you can refill from those, I do. The water is not always cold but it's the same water you get from the refill stations. You can always ask for a cup of ice from a QS location (or any location that has fountain drinks) and add that to your bottle.

I fill my Simple Modern metal bottle with ice in the morning and then water. The ice remains for most of the day, so even if I refill with water that isn’t very cold, my water still remains chilled. And when we can’t find a bottle refill station, we get water from any quick service.

I always swing by QS locations and ask for (free) ice water if I can't get to a refill station, or I'll find a QS location with a self-serve fountain machine and fill my water there. I prefer cold water (at least for a few minutes), and I can't stand the water fountain water unless I have my Brita bottle. I haven't bought a bottle of water at WDW in years.

Thank you. I guess Disney still cares more about selling overpriced bottled water than reducing plastic bottle waste. It is a shame there are not more water refill stations.
While I agree with your statement, I also wouldn’t use them. I see so many people drinking from their bottles and then touching their bottles to the spouts in a lot of places that have refill stations. So many people just are inconsiderate or don’t care. My last trip staying at the French Quarter, every morning at the coffee refill stations, people would fill, drink and then fill coffee mugs, cups, etc. I saw people resting their bottles or cups right on the spouts. yuck.

I do think the newer refill stations which protect the spouts are a lot better.

I have always been horrified by the lack of water bottle refill stations on Disney property.....it seems like every other tourist destination has plenty of places to refill ...it's one of the "cons" of visiting here IMHO.

What size metal bottle do you use?

You can also ask for water/ice at any snack stand that has fountain drinks. No need to wait in line at a quick service.

Almost impossible to get a cup of ice water at a quick service restaurant that has mobile ordering. Only one entrance, and that's for pickups only. I, for one, refuse to pay $3.00 for bottled water. I'd love to know if the bottles are really recycled.

We were there last week and didn't have any trouble getting water. Most places had them all poured and sitting on a tray. We just had to tell the CM at the entrance that we were getting water and they let us right in.

We typically bring Brita plastic bottles but this time we brought Brita metal bottles and they were fantastic. With the plastic I always put them in the cup coozies from Dunkins because of the condensation but the metal bottles prevented us from having that issue. We would fill the bottles with water and ice at the hotel to start the day and often times we still had ice at the end of the day. Soo glad we found the metal Britas!

In addition to Maltdizzy's post, there is one in the exit of Smuggler's Run. All the Batuu options are cold and taste pretty good. I usually end up refilling from water fountains, which is the warm Florida water. I've never been bothered by the Florida water taste, but I know some people don't like it.

Last trip, we took 20 ounce bottles and we’d usually refill 3 or 4 times. We got new Disney themed Simple Modern bottles for the next trip and they are 24 ounce. I have larger ones, but I feel like they are too heavy to lug around all day when they are full.

I can answer the recycling question: they are! We took a big group trip with a bunch of loosely affiliated friends once. One of them was in environmental engineering and had done a coop at WDW and told us a bunch of interesting information on how all the waste is handled.

We we informed by one of the bus drivers that Disney has an amazing recycling program and that 90-95% of all the trash is recycled appropriately.

A little off topic but we were talking about waste (wasted food) with our server at Liberty Tree because we were feeling badly that he brought us some additional items that we didn't eat. He assured us it does not go to waste and that Disney has a great program for putting food scraps to use.

I‘m cynical as the next person about corporate profits, but honestly I have never found myself having to buy a bottled water. No, there are not a lot of water refill stations but there are many alternatives available. I fill up my bottle before leaving the hotel. In addition to free ice water being readily available at every counter service restaurant, if you prefer to refill your bottle with cold water, there are some locations such as Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, Backlot Express at DHS, etc. Not that many of them in each park, but they are around and have the added perk of having ice cubes. (at last before Covid times?) Maybe someone has a complete list.

I’m grossed out by most bottle stations. People constantly touch the lip of their bottle (that their mouths have been on) to the nozzle. Constantly. With a drinking fountain, that can happen too, but usually the container/cup is a bit lower.
