Why is the water that you get at the counters better tasting than the fountains in the parks? I don't want to spend $2.50 every time I need a drink of water. I don't want to bring a back pack either. What do you do about drinking water?

Buy a Brita Fill-n-Go. Got mine at Walmart for around $6. It has a filter on it & is a water bottle you can carry around. Filters the drinking fountain water.

Even at our villa last year the water smelled nasty like sulphur. That is one thing Im not looking forward to. I am bringing los of bottled water.

The water at the counters is probably somewhat filtered. I just sock up on water on my way there. Florida water is the worst of the worst.

My vote is for the brita bottle also. I am 7mos pregnant and we were in WDW last week. My OB recommended I drink lots of water because of the humidity. I bought one of the little coolers to carry around that holds the bottle and everytime we stopped I asked for a cup of ice and used the water fountains. Some even gave me more than one cup of ice. We did Universal and there they took my bottle and filled it with ice every time. I thought the water tasted fine through the brita filter...

That was one of the best ideas that this board gave me!

Have fun!:earsboy: :earsgirl:

DH always says he knows he's at Disney when he smells the water from the tap. Just to brush your teeth will gag you!

The water tastes fine to us, even my very picky kids have no problems drinking it. I guess it depends on where you live and whay you're used to.

That thread subject line reminded me of a time when I was about 6 and was near a real fountain with sprouting water and statues. It was inside a mall and I leaned down to drink it, thinking that was the whole reason it was there. As you can imagine, it was like drinking water from Splash Mountain. It only takes one sip to learn that lesson.

Totally off topic, sorry!

I buy a case (or two) of bottled water & a gallon jug on my way in. I can't handle the FL water - makes me sick every time I've tried it (literally). My body just can't handle FL's particular blend of micro-organisms & minerals.....

We always bought water bottles to use when at WDW. Had heard how awful the drinking water is. Well, for two trips now we have left behind about 2 six packs worth of water in our room. We don't have a huge problem with the drinking water. We buy one bottle of water a day in the parks. But this is mainly due to the fact that the bubbler/fountain water is not very cold. But I think we are definatly in the minority here. Most people don't like the water. I just can't be bothered having a water bottle banging against me all day!

The water in Florida does taste terrible. I grew up in southwest Florida. I have noticed when I go back for a week to visit, My teeth are whiter after brushing my teeth with Florida tap water for a week.

If you don't want to carry bottled water around with you, here's another option. Take pre-sweetened kool-aid in a container and stick it in a fanny pack or backpack. They will give you free cups of ice water at any counter service location, and you can add your powder to your drink. Kills most of the taste. :)

Personnaly, we don't have a problem with the water. We came from and area that had excellent water and we still find no problem with the water in Florida.

Everyone to their own opionion.

I think it depends where you are. We usually bring one bottle of water each day and fill it up as needed. Some fountains have pefectly fine, cold water. Whereas others are warm and icky. I usually try it out before filling up and if it's a "good" fountain then I will go ahead and fill up. It's definitely not your Poland Spring (or other store bought variety) but it's drinkable.

I don't mind the water, but my parent's couldn't stand it (plus the fact that it's never as cold out of the fountain as from the bottles you buy). If the bottles weren't $2.50 each, I might have bought them, but I'm cheap and don't mind the taste. I did notice that if I left the water in my water bottle overnight it tasted absolutely awful in the morning.

We found on our last trip in June you were able to buy smaller bottles of water at different locations throughout WDW. T hey cost 1.25. I like these better as I don't waste the water.

Whenever I would buy a bottle of water, I was never able to finish it. Either it was too much or it just plain got hot. Now with the smaller bottles I can finish the water and it is still cold. Also I did not end up carry around a half full bottle of water. I am one that hates to carry anything extra than I have to.

I know people complain about the cost of the water, but I have been to a lot of places that the cost is more for less. Actually at our church is costs more to get the same size bottle. I told them I did not believe that is cost me more for water there than it does at Disney. We were at the Zoo in Palm Beach (before the hurricanes) and the 16oz bottle of water was $3.00. So I now consider the cost of water at WDW a Bargain. LOL

Try buying a bottle of water at Fenway Park in Boston. $3.25 for a half-liter bottle of Poland Springs. Fortunately, the Red Sox let you bring one bottle of water into the ballpark with you, so I get a 24 oz. bottle at the drug store around the corner for a buck.

Think about the profit margin on the water - I can go to the supermarket and buy a case of 1/2 liter bottles and they cost about 20 cents each. I guarantee that Disney isn't paying even that much, and they mark it up to $2.50. Not a bad business to be in!

Yuck, the Orlando water tastes yucky. I just give in and buy the bottled water.:teeth:
