Water at Disneyland

I have a weird question... I've heard a lot about the not so great water at WDW in the water fountains, due to minerals in the water. Is the water at Disneyland decent? Was thinking of bringing my Nalgene water bottle next week and perhaps some of those little Crystal Light single serving packs to keep hydrated. Also, has anyone had any problems bringing a Nalgene bottle into the park? Thanks!

I haven't ever drank from a drinking fountain at DL. The water served in the restaurants and walk up places is fine. I haven't noticed a strange taste at all. BTW, you can get free ice water throughtout the park at the walk up places that sell food. However, it is nice to have your own bottle so you can put a lid on it and throw it in your bag.

My DS is pretty picky about his water and he says the water there is just fine. He should know. He plays a lot of DDR (a dancing game) at the arcade and works up a big thirst. He visits the water fountains a lot.

Can't speak for Florida, but the DLR water is fine. This sounds like a scare tactic, anyway, to make you buy bottled water. The U.S. in general has some of the cleanest tap water in the world.

I took a drink from a water fountain by the exit of Space Mountain by the restrooms and the water is pretty nasty if you ask me. I'll only drink bottled water since that point. It just had a funny taste to it.

I've been going to Disneyland for over 40 years and will not drink the water. I used to live about 6 minutes away from there and you could smell our water before you would drink it. Maybe it has improved with time, but I stick with bottled water. I find it to be more convenient when my kids are thirsty than to start a fountain search, especially when I'm in line for a ride.:)

I don't like the taste of the water in So California, so generally bring my own bottle water and Crystal light packs. Water from the restuarants seems to be fine and filtered. No problem bringing in your own Nalgene bottle or your own stash of bottled water (at least we have never been stopped coming in with either).

We went to Disney World last summer and the water was so bad, it made us all sick to our stomach! Too much sulfur in it. Even if we flavored it, it still made us sick.

Disneyland is fine. They may not have the best tasting water in the country, but it's so much better than Disney World.

The fountain water at DL is terrible! I'm not sure about the restaurants, because we don't drink it, we bring bottled from home.

I am not overly fond of the drinking fountain water at Disneyland but I will drink it if I need to. At WDW however, I don't even like to drink what comes out of my resort sink! It tastes like a pond and the water fountains are probably worse. At DL, I will fill up my own bottle from my nearby hotel and its fine. And I second that they will happily give you free ice water. You don't even need to be ordering something else. They don't want their guests getting dehydrated. And the cups they use for this are just the regular size soda cups.

One of the reasons so many socal residents get bottled water delivered to their homes.

I'm not fond of drinking fountains anywhere really! Mostly for germ reasons. But we've always believed my DH got Mono off of the one in the line of POTC. One of our first trips going together (1996), he got SO sick very shortly after being home. Was sick for like 2 months! Of course we'll never know for sure where he got it. But you never know, I've seen people (especially little ones) put there whole mouths on those things. Ewwww!! We bring in bottled water.

(yes I can be a germaphobe sometimes! ROTFL)

What is a Nalgene bottle? Is it insulated? I agree about the WDW water. I'm from NY and fussy as can be about water.

DS6 (when he was a baby) would get the runs if we used the WDW water for his formula.

We usually freeze bottles of water to bring in and drink them as they defrost and wind up buying more later.

Haha, good point!
I can stomach LA city water if I need to, but I always take my own bottled water since I don't have to wait in line or keep finding places to stop and drink from fountains. Plus you'll save some money since bottled water/drinks inside the parks are more expensive.

Our grocery store has a clearance section in the back. When someone opens a case of water to buy one, the rest are put in the clearance section for 15 cents each. I take a few of these with me to Disneyland and keep them in the refrigerator at the hotel, or in my bag so I don't have to buy $2.00 a bottle water. My son drinks only water and can go through 5 bottles a day, that's a big savings for me!

Wow that is a good deal!

Note Channel 5 here did a local story about bottled water vs. tap water, turns out that Dassani (the brand that's sold at DL) has more impurities in it than the worst tap water in So. Cal.

Now remember at Disneyland all water in most, if not all of the drinking fountains is filtered, but if you want the best water in Disneyland take a water bottle in First Aid at Disneyland, they will let you fill all you want for free, they encourage you to tell others about it as well, they want you to stay safe above all else, after all it's their job. And their water is definitely filtered in the drinking fountain right there, so no impurities from the pipes even.

The water in Anaheim is NOT L.A. City water. It's from a different treatment plant. It's very good. There is no taste or smell, unless you were smelling/tasting something in the pipes or the actual fountain.

You can ask for a cup of ice water at ANY CS place and you will get a LARGE cup with ice and filtered water (from the soda machine). It's approximately a 16oz cup. I use these to refill my Camelback water bottle.

Thanks to everyone for the input! Sounds like I should be alright with my refilling my water bottle, especially if I can get refills from the carts and/or first aid. Thanks!

Even if the water taste fine the warmth of it could ruin it also.
