Watching Ivan trip on the 18th

I do have to admit that we were, untill today, supposed to be traveling to St. Petersburg beach on the gulf side. This morning Priceline allowed us to cancel our reservations with NO penalty due to Ivan so I have to give Priceline and the Tradewinds resort 5 ***** they were wonderful! We are staying offsite and will now be in Orlando for 10 days yippee! We definately have been waiting on this trip, and I wish that we could help the gulf coast out too with our vacation dollars, but at least we will still be helping out the Florida tourist industry. Many prayers and Pixie dust to all! Our house will be weathering the storm without us in South west GA so pixie dust for the farm house too!

See you there! ::yes::

Leaving the 18th from Philly- Florida should be fine by then. Actually whatever is left should be in my area-as long as my flights going, I am going.

Ditto that. I am very concerned about the weather in NYC on the 18th. Out post-Frances weather shut down the city for half a day. I know our flight will go eventually, just don't know when.

Small potatoes, of course, compared to Florida's worries.

We are planning to leave very early Friday morning (the 17th.) However, we are driving from Dallas. So no matter where Ivan hits, we will follow it. Our plans right now are to go, and we will wait and see how the damage is. First we are visiting my aunt and uncle in Daytona and they are urging us to postpone the trip a week. That is the only reason I am considering it - because they want us to. (I think they are worried about us driving).

Travel safe, everyone!:wave:

Here's how management could help: Offer a toll free number.

Because no one knows where the hurricane will hit, I do not suggest cancelling vacation plans well in advance, and if you are in Florida when it hits, you are just as much an evacuee as anyone else.

Other Disney hints:

One post described someone's spending $200. in phone calls to fix what he said was Disney's messup. The post went on to say he was ultimately given unlimited unrestricted Fastpass privileges (how many people for how long not mentioned).

We are planning to leave Providence on Friday for a short 3 day trip to celebrate DH Don's 57th birthday. He really wants to go so I have put it in SWA's hands. If they are flying we are going. First night is at Pop Century, then 2 nights at Wilderness Lodge. We have HDD and the Gospel Brunch booked so I hope it all works out. Look for the guy with all the birthday buttons!

Sounds like it will be busy in Disney the week of the 19th. We plan on flying out of Providence on Fri. If our flight leaves, we will be on it.

We are suppose to be flying out of Baltimore(BWI) on the first 8:30 am SWA flight to Orlando....if that plane goes we are on it. My worry now isn't WDW it is the weather in Baltimore that morning and our plane leaving. I'm not the best flyer in the world...I'll do it but I hate turbulance and if Ivan is still around it could be a bumpy ride...but WDW is worth it. So 10 days at POFQ here we come.

5 AM Mon 9/13 forecasts suggest Ivan will miss WDW. At any rate the date of arrival if it did hit is somewhat later from forecasts of a few days ago.

I feel sorry for those folks who already cancelled their vacations except that it is still possible for there to be a lot of rain.
