When we stayed at BLT upon first entering the room all was in working order. The next day when we arrived back at the room, the little plastic Mickey Head that covers the RFID reader on the door was on the floor. I didn't think anything of it and snapped it back on. Later when we were heading to the pool DH checked the door and noticed it was not locking. I left him in the room to check to be sure nothing was missing while I went to the front desk to alert them of the issue. The front desk kinda shuffled it off as carelessness with the mosuekeeping cart, but didn't understand why the room was not locked--shouldn't have been mosuekeeping in my room at all that day anyway! A few minutes later maintanence arrived and fixed it and we had no other issues during the trip. However just be cautious that the door is actually locking and if you see the little plasctic cover on the floor, take a minute to double check that the locks are working properly.

Thank you. It happened once to us before I think.

Had the same thing at BLT a few weeks ago, although the door stayed locked. We reported it twice to maintenance while there. It was fixed our last day.

There was a thread a little while ago about how it is possible to accidently set the doors to not lock. I'll see if I can find it. It didn't have anything to do with the cover for the locks falling off.

Ok - the jist is that when you enter the room holding the handle down for more than a few seconds can disable the lock. Seems like more than one person has had this conversation with the BLT maintenance man.

that's interesting.
i would assume all resort RFID locks have the same disabling feature :scratchin

btw, there were RFID covers on the hallway floor every day of our May BWV vacation (we popped ours back on almost daily). they really need to be attached more securely.

We stayed at SSR in July and the Mickey head cover on the door lock was always on the floor. I picked it up several times and put it back on but it never stayed on.

Goodness this does sound like an issue Disney needs to address :sad1:

Thanks for alerting us about the problem

One person had gotten the impression from maintenance that it is a setting that can be adjusted but they haven't at BLT????? So it's possible that other resorts are different but it wasn't completely clear.

They do indeed. And here I thought we were the only ones who had this problem (during our Feb trip at Kidani).
