what to do?

It's an active nest. Because the slide twists, you can't see the nest from either the top or the bottom.

Any ideas? I need to get that nest out of there without getting stung.

Can you seal the top and bottom without getting stung? I would think some plastic and tape would allow you to do it.

Seal both ends, at the bottom open the seal slightly and empty a can of wasp spray inside the tube. Reseal. The slide should fill with poison and kill them. Come back in a couple of hours to check.

That would be what I would do if it were possible.

Good luck!

I hope you knew it was there before someone went down it, my kids would have nightmares if they saw the hive!

Got a pic? Hard to envision exactly where the nest is and how to get to it...

1. a child did go down it and told me he saw the next with 3 wasps on it -- he did not get stung.

2. the seams in the slide are not air tight but I think you have the best suggestion so far. I was going to try and wrap myself in a blanket and go down the slide with a spatula. :rotfl2: I like your way better!

I'm sorry about the wasps nest, but that cracked me up!!!! :rotfl2:

I think I would seal the top and bottom and set of pest bombs at both ends.

Those wasp sprays usually have a 15' or so range. If you can see it, you should be able to spray it and I would think that would be enough. I would hit it a few times throughout the day and then it should be safe to physically knock down (with a broom to be safe).

Just my .02 cents.

Be sure to do this after dark when all the wasps have returned to the nest and they are not active. We have a nest in our bushes that we are killing tonight. We had to kill a yellow jacket nest in one of our flower beds last week. They seem pretty active this year--my neighbor has a huge wasp nest that she is killing this weekend. Good luck!

I agree sealing both ends and putting bombs on each side would definitely be my plan of attack! You would never catch me riding down in a blanket with a spatula - but I am sure that would definitely start some funny stories in your neighborhood!:rotfl:

If you are worried about the seams how about running some tape around them? And as someone said nightime is definitely your best chance and the cooler it is outside the better!

Whatever you decide good luck!

If you use this method, please clean the slide very well inside and out after the critters escape. I'm not sure how poisonous this would be to inhale or to get on your skin.

There is this spray called Wasp Freeze, I believe, it is the best...wait until nighttime and hose the nest down with that. It will saturate the nest and the nest will actually soak it up, all of the wasps should die pretty quickly then you can get the nest out. (My father's an entomologist...where do you live, I'll send him over!!!)

thanks guys! We are definitley going to take care of it tonight. I don't want to take a chance that a child could get stung. I'd rather it be me if it has to be anyone.

And yes, afterwards, I will definitely wash everything down -- maybe with dawn dish soap and warm water?

I don't think it will.

Good luck with the wasp nest. We use that foam stuff you can shoot from 15-20 feet away, but that doesn't work so well if you can't see the nest. Ugh. I hate wasps, they freak me out. I'm glad nobody got stung! You also reminded me that I need to go check our kids' play system. Thanks! For some reason wasps seem to love them. :headache:

OMG:rotfl: I am so sorry about your plight but I have a mental image that is making me pee my pants:rotfl:

I don't like the idea of using toxic sprays where children play. Plastic is porous. Just keep that in mind. Maybe there is a safer, non-toxic alternative.:confused3
