Got in late 2 Thursdays ago, about 11:15. No one was around to get luggage or park car, person was in the valet booth, didn't offer anything. Dropped off wife and daughter, wife checked in, I parked car and daughter stayed w luggage.

Checked in, once again no offer to do anything w luggage, didn't think much of it figured we would take 4 suitcases.

Front desk showed us on map our room w Boardwalk view. He said it was alittle bit of a walk.

I said WAS THIS THE BUILDING CLOSEST TO STUDIOS, he said yes. WRONG ANSWER!!!

Because of both the darkness, lack of building numbers, and construction it was very difficult trying to find building. Got to last building nearest parking lot and Studios, it wasnt our building! I was sweating and really pissed!

Tried to call front desk but of course u can't do that now, ultimate they did get me there and said someone would pick us up. We ultimately found our building by ourselves.

Wouldn't have complained except on last day we stayed before cruise. I was left our building and came back. Could not get into building, wristband wasn't working for me and 3 others to our building, so it wasn't just me!

Complained to front desk, got a really nice manger who asked what I would like for my inconvenience. I told her nothing it was just a few observations

I'm confused, Boardwalk is all one building. Did you go outside to get to your room? Why didn't you go down the hallway?

OH NO IT'S NOT!!! I thought the same thing, had to leave main building to get to ours

Do you remember your room number? Maybe a detour due to construction? You had boardwalk view?

DebbieB is correct, Boardwalk villas and Boardwalk Inn is one continuous building. I can not imagine that they would make you go outside due to construction without telling you that at check in. There are no building numbers, only room numbers.

As to help with luggage after 10pm, we have had problems there too.

Actually from the lobby, Boardwalk view is the shortest walk as shown here on the aerial photo of the villas.

I'm just as confused and agree with DebbieB and Sammie - Boardwalk Villas are one building and you do not have to go outside to get to your room.

There is a bell services desk in the lobby that you could have visited if you needed help with luggage.

There was no one there at 11:20pm, no offer to assist us!!!

We were on the first floor of a studio w Boardwalk view, I'll get our room number tomorrow.

We took the elevators near check in went down, THERE IS NO WAY TO GET TO THE ROOM WITHOUT GOING OUTSIDE!!!!

Had to make a right, we made two mistake and made a left. I think we were in building 1000, even if i am 100% wrong, we were never offered bell service. It was like a ghost town!

Also we were told by the front desk we had to go outside, I was shocked by that because I too though everything was connected

Is that the room that used to be the DVC preview center, if that is the case then yes you are probably right. That is one weird room. But the BWV is one building.

If you ever check in after 10pm, ask them for assistance. The person is usually in the back somewhere. They seem to be really slow after 10pm but they are available. They should offer but it seems after 10, everyone falls asleep.

I've never been on the first floor of the boardwalk view but once in a pool view studio in that section and don't you just walk across the breezeway between the courtyard and the Clown pool and into the hallway leading down to those rooms? It's something different for the boardwalk view? I know the current preview center has doors going out that way.

I thought they converted the DVC preview center to a room, did they not do that?

I see now. You went down the elevator to the first floor, crossed over by the pool to the door on the other side and down the hall? Or did you go around to the back and use the door from the stairs?

They converted part to rooms and part as a model. There's a 2 bedroom lockoff model room that you enter from the boardwalk next to Big River.

As Debbie mentioned there is still a 2BR lock-off that is used as a preview center. When you enter that you are coming off of the boardwalk thru what would be the patio but there are doors to the hallway too.

Okay, so yes on the 1st floor you do have to go outside through a breezeway to get to the other side of the building but it is still all 1 building and BWV does not have building numbers.

When you exit the elevator on the 1st floor and go right it will take you down the hallway with rooms; go left and it will take you by the fitness center and out the door to the breezeway. You now have 3 options: 1) go left to the pool; 2) go straight - through the double doors which takes you to the rooms on the other side of the building; and 3) go right - which takes you to the green space and onto the Boardwalk.

Have the old models for the sales office been turned into rooms and do these have to be entered from the Boardwalk? (As an owner at BWV I hate to admit I don't know this) We had a pool view room on the 1st floor in October but it was across from Big River and I never went further down the hallway to see if there were rooms on the Boardwalk side.

As far as bell services, all you had to do was ask. They are available 24/7 even if someone is not at the desk - we checked in at 2am one time and used bell services. Valet and bell services are not the same and valet would not have taken your car unless you wanted to pay $25 a day. I agree the girl at the desk not saying something is wrong, but sometimes it helps to speak up.

On the second floor and above it is all connected, just the first floor has a separation because of the pool entrance.
Exactly it was because of the pool.... Guess we could have used the 2nd or 3rd floor and not went outside???

In the past they MORE than try to make u use the bell services. Then again I never came in so late.

For the front desk to not ask if we wanted help is inexcusable, but, I guess I could have said something. Who knew we we would get lost : )

I agree. So sorry you got lost, I probably would have to in that situation.

You could have but then you would have had to walk down the stairs to get to the first floor. The short walk across the breezeway is much easier and faster.

Regarding the bell service, as was mentioned, one just needs to ask at any location if there isn't someone there asking you.

FWIW, I think that the front desk CM dripped the ball - why should we expect someone who hasn't stayed at the resort to know all the quirks? Yes, the OP could have asked the front desk CM for help with luggage, but IMO, it is up to the front desk to take care of the guest, especially if it is late.

steves100 - Sorry that happened to you. Kudos for letting the manager know and for not expecting compensation.

I'd much rather the managers tell me me they will fix the problem so it doesn't happen again or to someone else. Sometimes I think they are focused on placating rather than fixing/improving! Seems way too easy to just hand out compensation and forget about it. A good manager would be all over the Front Desk CM and Bell Services for not providing the appropriate service - hoping that's what happened after you complained.
