I know DC is going to be busy anytime in the summer, but when would it start getting 4th of July visitors? The 4th is on Tuesday this year. We were thinking of going up Wednesday, June 28 and leaving Sunday, July 2nd. I was thinking most people would be coming in on Saturday or Sunday if they were taking a weeks vacation there for the holiday. Any one have any other thoughts?

I think we might take Amtrak to Alexandria, we can get a good rate and have my parents meet us there and then stay w/ my Uncle, who lives in Alexandria. Hopefully w/ the free admissions to the Zoo and museums, it wont be a very expensive trip.

TIA! :sunny:

i would imagine you are correct. there will probably be more visitors than normal the entire week before/after, but i bet it would be REALLY crowded the saturday/sunday/monday of the holiday weekend.

I know that this was posted back in April but I am looking into visiting the DC area mid July and thought some others might have some info. Just use your quick reply.

Any advice for us too. We are leaving for DC this Thursday. Hoping for a stress free vacation. Anything special going on? And restaurant recommendations would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
