Obviously the extra washing that has been going through our machine has taken it's toll and now our machine will only wash at 40degrees! Not much use when you are washing dirty baby clothes!

So we are looking for a new machine, whick one do you have or which one would you recommend?
What spin speed?
how many different programmes?
What load capacity? Half load function?

Any help would be much appreciated, as I don't really know which one to go for, I'd love an american style one but we haven't got the room for it.

Thanks in advance

We have a Miele and it is great - very quiet and solid. it has a max 1300 spin speed, hundreds (it seems) of programmes, not got a half load button but does have a quick wash (20mins) The drum has far more holes than most machines for excellent drainage and is very smooth so no snagging.

It uses very little water (ecologically good) and we thought was very reaonably priced at around £600.

Miele have an excellent reputation for Washing Machines, I believe Bosch are well thought of too.

You pay a bit extra but probably worth it in the long run, some manufacturers put a 3 -5 year lifespan on their cheaper models which is no good.

Miele came top earlier this year in a consumer poll for Which magazine - they're the make I'm going to go for next time.

We've currently got an Indesit, it's nearly 2 years old. Had to call engineers out after a few months for major repairs but touch wood it's been fine since.

I'm almost afraid to say but we've had a Miele dishwasher as well, nearly 10 years now without any problem - fingers crossed!!!

My last 2 washing machines have been Hotpoint Aquarius, on average lasting about 10 years each. having 3 kids and do on average 2 loads of washing a day. Also find which one you like then look at www.365electrical.co.uk. used this company back in April (after being let down by comet) and they were brill. The washing machine that I got off them was £429.00 at the time in comet and I got it off these guys for £260, and they delivered in 2 days.
