Washer/Dryer Question

We'll be doing a split stay between BLT and BWV in a studio for total of 9 nights prior to a cruise in February. Are the washer/dryers in these resorts usually reliable or should I book a 1 br for a night or 2 to guarantee I can clean my clothes?

There are regular hotels attached to both of those DVC resorts. So if the laundry room for studio guests to use in the DVC resort had a problem, you could use the laundry room in the regular hotel. You would have to pay to use the washer and dryer in the laundry room in the regular hotel, but you might find that preferable to using points to upgrade your reservation from a studio to a 1-bedroom.

Also, you can keep an eye on this website for awhile to see what the situation is like in the laundry room:

For December, we decided to book a one bedroom for two nights before our cruise just to be able to wash our clothes conveniently! VGF studio 4 nights, 1 bedroom VWL for two, then DCL cruise!

It’s true that we have found DVC laundry rooms adequate.

Never had a problem with them. That includes both the in-suite units in 1BR and above, along with the communal units you can use if you're in a studio.

I’ve stayed in studios at BLT and BWV and used both of those shared laundry rooms. Worked out great. Recommend starting early as it did get busy as the day progresses and no1 wants to wait for someone to come back and switch over their wet clothes or move out the dryer.

Only resort we have issues with laundry is Poly and I think it is because they have only studios so there are a lot of people using the laundry and sometimes it's hard to find an open machine.

Just us, but others do differently…

When we were members we always got 1br or greater. Loved the washer dryer. Absolutely LOVED it.
Until I read here some people were washing their kids poop clothes in the washers. At that point I started doing an empty load to rinse out the washer. Then I read folks drying their swimsuits in the dryer without washing them first….

We quit using the washer & dryer. Too gross for our tastes.

I react similarly everytime I see a ketchup, syrup, or other condiment squeezable bottle in a restaurant - it reminds me of the time seeing an infant sucking on the syrup bottle at the table next to ours.

Reminds me of when my daughter grabbed the parmesan cheese at a pizza joint and licked it. (I gave it to the server and told her BTW).

Yikes!!! If I start thinking about many places or things that people or kids touch or do, I will never leave the house. But you are all right.....we have all witnessed a lot of things that wish we had not. It will be a sight that is not easy to forget.

I stopped making coffee in the room for this reason. :scared:

We have never had issues/problems using washers and dryers. We like to get it done early. Put the wash in, go for our morning walk. Time it, come back, throw it in the dryer and finish our walk. Sometimes we will do the wash early when we are having a pool morning. Hardly ever go out of our way for it.

I just rinse the cup and pot out before use and try not to think too hard about it. :coffee:

We do wash whatever few items we think we will need for our stay before using them. I have washed the pot - but I can count the times I have used it since reading it's other uses  Before then, used it daily. :)

I got reading this old thread and wonder what other uses for the coffee pot the poster is referring to...
Like..."Hey everyone, I just discovered the coffee pot is a great place to wash your socks after a long day!" :p

Well, I had no clue until I started reading it on "boards" - people wash their undergarments - so yeah.......maybe worse than socks :scared:
