was the service your way gift card worth having no mousekeeping?

After reading all these, we will take advantage of this next time. I already tidy the beds, pick up the room and take the trash out in preparation for the house keeping cleaning. Yes... I admit I have a problem. :)

But if this gets us a little something to spend elsewhere in the parks because I already am a freak, then I guess that's good! Plus my wife would be far less concerned about people coming in the room after we leave.
You'll still get a room check.

It’s random. Maybe you will maybe not. Odds are you won’t be there. If you are. You don’t have to let them in. Either way. The room check is a non issue. We are never there if and when they do them.

Does that happen normally, like every room?
Security checks when mousekeeping is passed on are typical no matter the resort or room. When you have mousekeeping, it counts as a CM getting eyes on the room, so a security check doesn't typically occur in addition to a mousekeeping cleaning.

They may say the checks are random, but there's no way to know if you had one if they don't come while you're in the room. But no one is exempt from them.

We take the gift card also. So easy just to call for extra towels (DD needs more than one for her hair anyway) and we have requested extra trash bags. As far as the security checks, most of the time they just peek in the room and ask if you need anything. In a 2 week stay I think we only had 1 security check come in and check the bathroom. Also some of them will also take out the trash.

Refuse to let them enter and report back how that goes for you. :rotfl:
You absolutely don’t have to let them in. They can come back when you are not there. You can say someone is in the shower. I can assure you no one has to let anyone in. They will come back though. But legally 110% you have the right to say no. They will come back. But you can say no. We have done it. As many others have.
Others only let them peek in. But in no way do you have to let them actually enter. You may assume you have to. But the 4 th. Amendment disagrees. And Disney knows that. Just Tell then no.....They will return until either you let them in or you aren’t there.
I have never let them in. But we aren’t there much of the time. So they can enter when we are at the parks. If they do. It’s totally random.
Note. Katz vs United States. Also includes privately owned structures. Or rental cars. And this since 1967. Includes property owners. IE. Disney. And not just Government from doing warrantless searches.

:rotfl: You might wanna re-read the 4th Amendment. ;)

I added it before I saw this.
supreme court ruling 1967. Added property owners. And not just government has to have warrants. Rental cars are included in that ruling. You don’t own it. But you have your rights.
Again. You don’t HAVE to let them enter. Just say come back in an hour. We will be gone. No one can force you to let them in. Period. I’m done arguing this. As I have done it my self. There is a Growing group of attorneys telling people their rights in declining this. Do some research. And if you want to let them in. Your right also. I choose not to participate.

I’m any case. Yes. Without question the 10.00 is worth it.

It isn't worth it to me. Part of being on vacation is letting someone else do for me what I do the other 360 days of the year.

Totally agree. We stay in a suite at AoA...five or six people, two bathrooms, several trash cans. I take care of those things every day at home. I'm not doing it on vacation and I make sure to tip housekeeping very well because I truly appreciate the work they do. We also try to keep the room generally tidy so housekeeping can come in and do their tasks without having to shovel a path to move round the room. Getting $10/night for declining housekeeping isn't anywhere close to enough money to make me even consider taking this deal. It's literally a teeny tiny drop in the bucket of the total cost of the trip. If it was $50/night, I might consider it. When we went to Disney in June 2018, I actually got a call from Guest Services the night before we arrived asking if I would like to decline housekeeping -- I didn't even bat an eye before saying, "no thank you". :D

I do understand why many people are happy to take this deal. I'm just not one of them.

We haven't been to Disney in many years, so this option is completely new to me and perfect for us! (I explained the no housekeeping/gift card incentive to my husband and he agreed it's a no brainer.) We don't need new towels daily and keep our room tidy when we travel. I might need to call for more coffee, but I've had to do that in hotels even *with* daily housekeeping. Ha! I like my morning coffee.

We were going to take the gift card since we did a split stay (4 nights and 3 nights) but we couldn't find the option on the app, and were too lazy to call. We ended up enjoying coming back to a clean room with beds made every day in the afternoon. I never make my bed at home so I don't know why I like it so much on vacation!

We usually left the room around 9AM and came back around 2 or 3 for a break before dinner, and our room was always clean at both resorts. I've heard of people having issues but we personally have always come back to a clean room by mid-afternoon for all of our stays.

Not worth it to us-LOVE heading to the Parks leaving an unmade bed, towels on the bathroom floor, trash in the can, etc. and then coming back from the Parks to a "Check-in ready" room!

Vacation at WDW to us means no hassle of driving a car and no "housework"!

Not enough money involved to "sway" us.

But I see we are a big minority!lol :)

I'd be in that minority with you! I clean up after people all year - nice to have someone do it for me.

If you decline housekeeping and take the gift card, you will still receive daily security checks.
Receive them relentlessly was my experience. Napping in my underwear, no problem for them, they just keep banging until you open the door. Spouse in shower, that wasn't an issue either, they just want in. Spouse at food court, chain off door, me in bathroom, oh, surprise, just your friendly "safety" check. Last time I ever felt safe with chain off!

They will return later out of courtesy for the guest in the name of customer service. Not because they are legally obligated to do so. In fact, its the opposite. You are a guest on private property. If you read the fine print of your reservation (or any hotel reservation), they do reserve the right to enter your room at any time for any reason. It would just be in bad taste from a service perspective if they barged in and didn't try to adhere to guest requests to come back later, when they are able to.

It's worth it for sure for us!! We go for 9 nights so the one thing I pack (staying at Pop) is a dry Swiffer. The floors get a little gritty and a quick swing around the room with this gathers the grit and hair. Well worth $10/night savings for us!

Declining mousekeeping will get me one more ornament. I'm good with that.

I see both sides. But I need that extra ornament. Will it be a handbag? Ear hat? High heeled shoe? I don't know but I'm getting something for finding my room how I left it.
This is why I declined my last trip. The gift card was enough for me to buy the sweetest little bag in the UK pavilion at Epcot. Very nice, leather, looks like a cottage, and it has pups on it! I’d admired those bags for a few trips but never pulled the plug, because it’s tradition that I splurge on ornaments in the German pavilion and on a few pins each trip. Just never could justify spending another $50 or so on myself, so it was nice (and worth calling for fresh towels every day).
