Was it something I did?!?

hmmm... i think we need PETA check out your story :rotfl:

PETAASAMB would need to come

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Snails and Maybe Betas. Well I did mistake my cat for a slipper so maybe add cats to that too.

i read that thread.. and killed myself laughing.. that took lots of guts to tell the dis world. :worship:

ok maybe u arent gonna eat gary :yay:

well if you do deceide to eat Gary..I can overnite my 3 snails to you and at least you could have more for a decent meal.

The beta can't escape. There's no open area for him to jump out of. He's hopelessly trapped in there with his plastic plant.

Well see, there we go. Just like when I was in college and would drag a friend to go shopping with me for a saved-for item, and then the friend would get the same sort of item...or when a friend wanted a tattoo and dragged me along, and I got a matching tattoo...it was peer pressure! The poor beta couldn't fulfill its wishes, so he got your snail to do it instead!

I might consider suing your cubicle neighbor's fish. Call Nancy Grace (though I hear she had a cold all through her deposition).

I actually already gave him his memorial. I made an intern carry the bag and dig the hole with the spork. I didn't do a burial at sea, but I did put him near a fountain. Hey, it's wet, ain't it?

;)

And what kind of look did the intern give you when you asked him to help you? I got the stangest look when we had a burrial service for the class fish. BTW- Beta fish can commit sucicide. I was cleaning the bowl and had him in a little dish in the sink (with water) and he jumped down the drain (then the next day I flooded the floor. I guess this is why im not allowed to work in the nursey:rotfl:)

My beta went down the sink too!!! Maybe we are beta murderers?? I just think maybe he couldn't take seeing his reflection anymore...LOL!

What did gary live in? What did you use on the bottom? Did he have live plants? Im just wondering cause this sounds like a good pet for our summer camp classroom (lower maintance than FROGGY (Rip)) Do snails live completly in water? Do they need land to play on? Im so confused!

Count me in! Went to college with a beautiful purply-pinky-blue beta named Mickey (what else) and came home with an empty bowl and a green nettydipper. One day when I was cleaning his bowl, and had him in a little tupperware container to wait, he just woosh! One jump and he was gone. All I saw were a few tail fins swishing as he slid down the drain.

And glitterkittyy reminded me I have 2 dead hermit crabs in pill bottles in the back of freezer that need a proper burial. Just waiting for the ground to thaw. Hmmm. I vaguely remember saying that last winter, too.

I am such a bad Mickey/Harry/Dumbeldore momma!

Bows her head in shame and waits at the door for the inevitable visit from the little critter police. :guilty:

....sorry :confused3 , every man for himself....Sheesh, you have no respect for the dead....:sad2:

I know. And for that, I'm truly, deeply sorry.
Gary, may you RIP near the fountain...in the ziploc bag. Forever and ever. Amen.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
(that was a moment of silence)

You did not bury them yet? You told us last winter you would. I am gonna send the Ghost Whisperer to your house now

I'll never look at escargot the same way again. Actually, I'll never look at escargot again. :scared1:

Well I'd have to sue myself. The beta is in another tank in my office! Wonder how much I can sue myself for?!?

Gary lived in a small filtered aquarium.
I used aquarium gravel in the bottom.
He did have live plants (snails like to much them).
He did live completely in water though he did like to climb to the top of the tank and suction to the waterless spots sometimes.

They are easy pets to care for, but they are prone to suicide so you must have a tank with a lid!

I had no idea that I was in the midst of so many beta murderers!! :scared1:

Just checking in to see how you're doing today, Glitterkitty. Hope the good memories of Gary are getting you thru your grief.:flower3:

I'm doing fine, thank you, but I couldn't bring myself to pack my daughter's lunch today. Ziploc bags.............She'll have to eat a school lunch today. :sad2:

My niece got a beta fish for her birthday last year. He lives in a wonderful little bowl on the desk in her room. His name is Han Solo. But when we visit, I sleep in her room. Now I'll worry that something will happen to Han when I'm sleeping there. And I'll be there President's Day Weekend......
