Who saw Illuminations last night, Friday, 4/29?

The show was delayed about 15 minutes "due to technical difficulties". Then when the show did start, during the first round of fireworks there was an enormous fireball, I mean HUGE FIREBALL roaring throughout the whole first part of the show. :earseek:

Personally I freaked, and thought the whole barge was going to explode! I was there with family visiting from NY, and my 3 1/2 month old dd. I didn't want my baby to blow up! I kept saying something is NOT right, let's get out of here!

Then when the fireworks stop in the middle of the show, the fire slowed down and finally burned off, and the rest of the show went off without a hitch.

But I am telling you all, there was DEFINATELY something MAJORLY wrong with the beginning of the show last night!

Did anyone else see it?!? :earseek:

Well, the technical difficulties part makes me wonder... But the show typically features a giant fire ball barge, and times where the fireworks cease and the fire burns out. So my guess is it was just your first time of seeing the show, and didn't know what to expect. At least I hope that's all it was. :worried:

I have seen the show many, many times, but always by UK or France. Last night we were over by Future World/Mexico, and I never noticed the fireball before. Could it be because I saw it from a different view point? I am soooo embarressed! :guilty:

I am still curious to hear if anyone else saw it last night and noticed it too!

Thanks everyone!

From anywhere in World Showcase, it should be visible. It is an integral part to the show. Have you seen the globe's light up screen during the show before? But don't feel bad, it is a very intense thing. It is there to surprise and amaze. :earseek:

The first time I saw it, I thought the same thing! but then when I noticed that nobody around me was freeking out about it I just figured it was all part of the show. After I saw it again, it confirmed it! :)

When was the last time you saw the show? It may not have been there when you last saw it

I have been at Epcot to watch Illuminations after a concert has been on. And Illuminations was late by almost 10 minutes. The band that night was also late in playing. as I was listening to them that night. I "assumed" the lateness was due to the band playing late. But maybe not.
There is usually blasts of fire. But maybe last night was stronger than usual. Or maybe it was windy out and carried it further. :confused3
That does give pause to think of what COULD happen.

I saw the show like 2 weeks ago! Maybe I have ADD :confused3 and never realized it before! I do have a big mouth and am usually talking to everyone around me rather than giving my undivided attention to the show.

I am in the parks at least 3-4 times a week! I don't usually stay for the firework shows very often, but I like to think I know alot of stuff about WDW!

Oh well, just goes to show you, there is always room to learn something new!

Thanks again everyone! :wave2:

And I apologize to the people around me last night at Illuminations! :rotfl: Going to bury my head now!

Isn't the fireball representing the big bang or something like it for the show?

It's call the "inferno barge". My take is that it represents the creation of earth.

If your on an illuminations cruise it is very very warm when the fireball goes off.....but it is normal

That is also one of the best things about Disney entertainment. There is always some new detail (small or large and flaming) to discover. That's why we can keep going back and still be entertained. Thank you Mickey! ::MickeyMo

The fireball is integral to the CHAOS part of the Illuminations story. I have seen this display at least 35-40 times. When we were there on Easter Sunday, the show was delayed about 15 minutes due to "technical difficulities" and the fireball did NOT happen that night, so it is possible that you could see a show without it.

Life changes when you are a mom. You see everything differently! Is your 3 1/2 month old your first? Congratulations!

This is a correct statement about the ball of fire at the begining of the show. Does anyone else remember how they use to start the IllumiNations to symbolize the same thing?

?

?

?

?

I know, plus I have it on tape, that when IllumiNations started for the
Millennium Celebration the begining (or "Big Bang") was indicated by four large rockets, shot from the edges of World Showcase, coming together and exploiding over the center of the lake and then the fireball would errupt. Not sure why they took this element out, but I like this version better with the just the fire ball.

PS IllumiNations is one of my favorite shows currently at WDW. :cool1:
