I'll watch anything WDW related but I was a little disappointed with last night's travel channel show. I actually screamed at the tv a few times.

I enjoyed the show overall (how could you not love a peek at Wishes and Illumintations) but I thought there were several things that were poor and misleading to someone "not in the know" The energy was great and I did find myself waiting for them to reveal themselves as DISers

1. Buying tickets on site at the gate!!! Are they crazy, I have seen long lines to do this and you pay more than prebuying through Disney. I can understand they didn't advertise using a ticket broker but come on, at least than have them purchase at the resort.

2. I find it hard to believe you could go to a 9 or 9:30 am spa appointment and than go to Epcot at let's say 11am. The got a FP for mission space (when I was there in feb at 11:30 there were none left for the day), rode test track and it was time to use their fast pass. I think it is very misleading how FP works, there is no way that could happen to the average person.

3. The tip about starting in adventure land is true except now that isn't an option often since it opens at 10am.

As I said, I did enjoy the special but felt some of it lacked factuality. Anyone else?

I was alittle disappointed too. However, I think it's because we're all soooo prepared and have all those tips. I think some of it would of been helpful for a rookie. However, I was thinking about when the 1 girl went to go make a PS in the morning for Prime Time--- and it was no problem at all. That doesn't always happen so easily-- so I was thinking then it's abit misleading.

Nope, I wasn't disappointed. I took it for what it was and enjoyed it.

I loved seeing fellow DISERS too!

Wasn't this done during the winter? Other than the fact that this was "disney magic" we didn't have any problems with same day PS's or line at MS first week of Feb.

So, I 'll give them that. But did they say you have to stay concierge to take the sunrise safari? I gave up and taped it in the end. Will finish watching later.

The adventureland thing got me too! And I know that those hours were in effect in Feb.!

Didn't you think they had been "ripped" staying at PC while others were all in deluxes?

And I agree, it was awesome watching a fellow Diser. She was just the right amount of bubbly!

This was scheduled to tape at the end of March/beginning of April. They didn't pick the participants until pretty late in March.

Yeah, I had a friend watch it. She's going to start planning her first trip there soon. She called me up after the show more confused than ever. She was interested in the moderate resorts and nobody stayed there. They should have put 1 family up in a deluxe, one group in a moderate, 1 group in value and one at Fort Wilderness or a villa. I would have felt ripped off at a value too, meandtheguys2. We saw 3 deluxe resorts and 1 value.

I think I heard the show was filmed in April. Probably even more crowded than February. Anyway, there really weren't too many tips. I guess it's hard to put all of that into a 1 hour show. Glad some of our Disers got to experience it. They were great. I just thought the show was lacking in actual tips.

They didn't SAY it, but there was one of those pop up text blocks that said as much.

I think they were trying to highlight the different types of trips you can take. Immediate family, adult romance, adult friends, and extended family. And all of those different types of trips are for different people.

I DO think they should have made some sort of disclaimer that most of these things applied in the off season.

:) I think for those of us who have been to WDW, we enjoyed seeing the show.
We are planning a large family trip for the summer with my dad,
well he watched it and just didnt get it!! I had to explain that its much better when your actually there and that the show didnt do WDW justice!! JMO.

I wish I had seen it. But for some unknown reason the travel channel isn't one of our 200 channels!!! AHHHHHH!

I think the show was good for what it was, advertising. I watched it with my ds (5) and he got excited all over again.

The show was geared to showing the varying "types" of vacations as opposed to the different levels. I thought this was a good idea to show that this can truly be a vacation loved by everyone. I also cringed when the woman was talking about buying her tickets at the gate. She was defintely in the category of fan and not expert but she felt the "magic" and that's what it's all about to me.

It was fun being able to catch all the little inconsistencies. It was almost like a pop quiz. Did we all pass???

did it say when it was taped? ( didn't see it, always seem to miss those things!:) ) when we were there in Jan they didn't even open fast pass till late morning if at all so it may depend on that

Sorry you guys didn't like the show. :( As far as our group starting in Adventureland you can find the reason in my other post. I won't speak for the other groups you are questioning, but I assume they encountered the same issues we did. Please don't be too hard on us because many things were out of our control.

Overall, a fun show to watch, but two things irked me just a little bit:

1. Nobody took an afternoon break - that is one of the great joys of staying on property and they did not mention it.

2. I thought it odd that the 3 women would spend the day at MGM, go back to Ohana for dinner and then back to MGM for Fantasmic. That would be too much running around for me.

Just a quick note to say that I'm not judging you, or being hard. I'm sure what they were asking you to do went against every fiber of your Disney-touring being!!! LOL! :)

And who the heck cares what anyone says!!!! You were on TV!!!!!

i did enjoy watching the show. i think that the purpose of this program was to show that different types of families or groups can go to WDW and each group can experience the Magic that is WDW in their own way. well Snackystacky pretty much already said the same thing so sorry for the repeat.

i was looking for a few tips to use for my next trip to WDW being the info addict i have become i am always looking for new ideas or info.

what i would like to have seen is at least one family in WDW during the hotter months of the year i think we would have seen a totally different
show. the extensive planning done by one family who printed out schedules really doesnt work out too well in the more crowded months. taking into account the toll the intense heat and sudden rainstorms can have on your day would definitly affect your plans as it did ours. but given that they may have been in WDW during the offseason with shorter hours i can definitly see the importance of having an extensive set of plans to maximize you WDW experience.

the family who toured MK by going to adventureland first seemed to have the right idea for touring any park at any time. they went left and just started moving around the park snacking, stopping and enjoying the rides and attractions at a good pace for their families. this was what worked best for my family this past summer. different styles of touring for different folks. there isnt one perfect way to tour the parks.

all in all i really enjoyed how each and every family enjoyed their respective trips.

TigrLvsPooh,
I haven't had a chance to read the entire thread on the community board where you describe your experience, but I don't think people should be hard on you...I am sure there were soooo many things you all taped that got cut/edited! I liked the show in that our family sat down and relived some great moments...and it made us feel like WDW experts when we could honestly say that we knew all the tips.
I got the feeling that the show was a big encouragement/advertisement to come to WDW...they made everything seem sooo seemless...like the couple who just walked up to the Rose & Crown and got lakeside seats for Illuminations. I think they didn't truly show the amount of time and planning it takes to make something like those things just "happen" but none of that was your fault!
