I don't know about you guys but my heart sank into my stomach yesterday when I heard the words "A plane has crashed into a building in NYC". All I could think was "this could not be happening again!" It was weird that yesterday was the 11th. It brought me right back to 5 years ago. Anyone else feel that way yesterday?

:guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

Flying down the East River and Hudson River are common routes for general aviation. The ceiling there is 1100 ft so they have to stay below that. I would think it would be a tight turn.

No, I didn't even know it happened until 8-9pm.

I didn't hear about it until well after it was over and they knew it was an "accident" so I had no time to be scared.

What got me wondering though was all of the "onlookers" who were claiming to be afraid that it was a repeat of 9-11. If you thought that, would you stand there staring at the building??? Turn around and go home.

When I first heard about I was worried. Especially since I was at work in NYC. Then when we heard the facts I was just very very sad.

My first thought was "oh no, not again". They intially said that they did not "think" it was terrorism but didn't they say that on 9/11? When I heard that NORAD had scrambled jets, I called my dh to tell him. He works in Boston so I wanted to give him a heads up in case there was more to the accident.

I feel so sorry for the families of the people killed but I must say that it was a miracle that nobody else was killed in the building or on the ground.

I couldn't believe all the bystanders looking up at the building. :confused3 After 9/11, I would be heading out of town fast.

My thoughts EXACTLY.

I KNOW!!! There would be smoke on my heels!!

I was also very scared. When I found out it was an accident I was relieved although saddened for the people killed. Sad any way you look at it.

Honestly, no I really didn't. They reported almost immediately that it was an apt. building so I knew the odds of it being deliberate were slim. Now, if multiple apt buildings had been hit that would have been another story.

What really surprised me was that they took a sightseeing trip by the Statue of Liberty and other NYC landmarks. I thought NYC was a no fly zone for small aircraft.

My sister lives in that neighborhood, so I was a bit worried.

Actually 9/11 didn't really enter my mind, at least not at first. I was upset because my sister was flying into JFK from Istanbul at the exact same time. All I heard was Manhattan plane crash and I panicked a little until I got the facts. I suppose, especially being a New Yorker, that if it wasn't for that coincidence, I would have thought of 9/11 immediately.

I had a few panicked minutes when I couldn't remember if a friend lived upper east or west side.

My first thought was terrorism too. Particularly when they said they were sending up fighter jets and when an eye witness said the plane had made a sharp 90* turn. For half an hour or so it really was deja vu. It was confusion and terror all over again

Not really because my sister, who is in law enforcement, under the department of homeland security, hadn't even heard about it yet.
