Warriors are Ringing in the New Year 2010

Hi Warriors!

Did a workout at the gym on Monday, speed drills on Tues and more gym work (eliptical and weights) last night. I am SO tired today!!

Hope everyone else is still moving in some way!

I am still moving, thanks Michelle!

Jim, good multitasking with ice on foot and typing at the same time! whoo hoo!!

Stan, come on in and we welcome you to the Warriors.

**** These are the names of people who have specifically stated they want to stay on the Warriors...

Me
Kate
Sarah
JIm
Michelle
Erika
Marcia
and adding Stan

As Debra asked, do you all want to continue with keeping track of minutes/miles? do you want to stay with your team or move on? Do you think there should be something else going on. Just remember that as life moves on poeple do and can get caught up in that and can loose their way.
Any suggestions for the Warriors??
I am thinking I will do the VIrtual Turkey Trot 10k again and may come up with a WISH 5K the Friday before the Half and Full in January.

Hi Warriors! Sorry I missed the Warrior photo op at the Pop. I guess I was just a wee bit tardy. :sad1:

Sarah, you and your little one sure are fast Goofy folks. So happy that DH ran with you. Sounds like it was fun that way. I'm amazed how well you did. I think another Goofy even with less training would work for you unless you are needing the speed. If you don't worry about being so fast, you'll probably be able to get through quick enough.

Good job to everyone who is getting back on the training. I've been logging some short miles. Will have to see about a LR this weekend. I'm now ready to get into my New Orleans half training mode. Good thing I'm not to far out of the training so I should be able to pick it up well enough.

I don't care if we continue the mileage, but I'm thinking that for those who want to do this perhaps a spreadsheet could be available without having the team captain needing to enter the stats. Someone would be needed to help with any "glitches" so there would still be a need for that assignment, but maybe not as labor intensive?

Actually AlohaMick was happy to have met all of you!

I had a spreadsheet this year where people could go and put there miles and times.
I can do this again if people would like to do so, but I agree about having one person entering them. What do you all think?

Lily and Jeff, are you guys wanting to stay with the Warriors?

-Tracy

Hi Warriors!

A couple of 3 milers since the marathon and a spin class...not pretty though. I almost fell on the treadmill as I was trying to increase my speed. My legs just didn't want to go, but once they got warmed up...everything was fine.

Have a great weekend for you that have nice weather! It's been raining here the last 4 days and lot's of flooding everywhere.

Cheers!

Hi all! finally ocnvinced myself that I am not in WDW anymore (been home almost a week) and it's time to post.

SO great seeing the Warriors I did. RAther sad that AlohaMick must not have liked me though. ;) Like every marathon weekend, I WISH I could have spent more time with WISHers. It's the best!

Marcia - Your mom was great!

Jim??? I thought you wer coming to Pop. Please tell me I didn't miss you? One of these days, I'm going to go stalker on you and i will find oyu. ;)

OK, 4 miles for me last Saturday and 45 min core work today. I never thought I'd see the day where I went to an exercise class that started at 6 am. DH still can't believe I went, let alone survived.

While my marahon was worst ever time wise, I had teh best time ever durign the marathon! Thanks to all teh WISHers I ran with/passed/gto passed by and that were scream traming!

Carrie: Isn't it so hard admitting that you're back to reality? I plunked a Disney glow cube in my glass of Sprite last night.... DH laughed at me, but it did make me feel better. :rotfl: And :scared1: at your 6 am exercise class! I have trouble rolling out of bed at 7:30!

Marcia: Yikes on all that rain! Not cool!

Tracy: Hurray for back to back to back half marathons! I think I need to start doing that so I can pad my race count, with fewer long training runs. :goodvibes As far as the miles/minutes, I'll admit that I really wouldn't mind if it disappears. I track my runs through MapMyRun and I find it to be a chore to transfer the data over every few days - I do like posting my runs here, but I'm not married to the spreadsheet. And I can see how it's a lot of work for you, chasing up all of us!

Jeff: Man, Aloha Mickey gets around!

Lily: You're becoming my 2011 enabler.... well, if I do decide to do the Goofy, can you promise me warmer weather next year? :lmao:

Kate: Great job at getting back out there and running! I'm so glad that the marathon went well for you, and that you're not feeling it now!

As for me, I.... haven't laced up the running shoes, yet. I start my training for the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle marathon with Joints in Motion (the Arthritis Foundation) in February, and I told myself that I wasn't going to make myself run between the Goofy and starting training. Now, is there a chance I'm actually going to be able to run (walk) the RnR Seattle marathon (at 34 weeks pregnant)? Um... probably not, but I figure that starting the group training with Joints in Motion is still a fantastic idea. I've been getting lots of walking in, though, and I figure that next week will probably be the week where I feel the need to put on the running shoes. Did 3 miles this afternoon with Jack, though, so at least I'm still moving.

Also, I seem to be having a recruiting boom for marathon weekend 2011. As soon as I said DH and I were going back for 2011, my parents volunteered to come along and do the 5K, and watch the baby while DH and I run. And then my little brother ran his first half marathon (RnR Phoenix) last weekend, and decided that he's definitely in for Disney - he hasn't decided if he's doing the half, the full, or the Goofy yet. But he has a competitive streak and has decided that if I'm doing the Goofy again, he's doing it as well. :rotfl2: And lastly, DH and I decided that it was our mission to recruit one of his coworkers. This coworker is a huge Disney fan and was totally jealous of our trip. He is also 28 years old, and was told by his doctor last year that if he didn't completely change his diet and exercise habits, he would not live to see 40. In the past year, he has lost over 100 lbs and now goes to the gym for 2 hours before work every morning. He is totally an inspiration to me, of what you can accomplish when you have a goal and stick to it! Anyway, DH invited this coworker to WDW for 2011, and he not only immediately said yes, but his enthusiasm prompted his roommate and 2 other coworkers to register for the half marathon as well. :lmao: Mission #2: bringing the coworker over to WISH, as he is a prime candidate. :goodvibes :rolleyes1 Anyway, it's going to be a crazy Marathon Weekend next year, but it's going to be awesome! :woohoo:

Happy weekend, Warriors!

Carrie: Lily: You're becoming my 2011 enabler.... well, if I do decide to do the Goofy, can you promise me warmer weather next year? :lmao:
Yes. That will be the trend. We had one cold then the next years were VERY hot.

Seems like you are definitely in for Goofy if you are having such a big family/friends turnout. Great idea about the WISH recruit. Probably will help him enjoy training more. I know it does that for me.

Marcia, yikes about almost falling on TM. :scared1: Glad you did not.

Carrie, glad to know you had a great marathon event. I think time at DW is not as important as fun.

Tracy, yes, I'd like to be in.

Jeff, like the AlohaMick pics. He sure does get around. Does he race?

Jim, sorry I didn't get to say hi. I think I may have seen you on the bike along the roadway, by the time I decided, I was past. I should do as Anne and just yell out your name at all the biker folks.

Going to try to be out for 8 miles tomorrow.

yay!! Add Lily to the list of 2010 Warriors!!

BTW: I have volunteered us (Walt's Warriors) to be the "host" for the 2010 2nd Annual WISH Virtual Turkey Trot 10K. Now, what that "means" at this time I have no idea, but when we get closer we can figure it out!

-Tracy

Tracy, Warriors or wherever I land is fine.

Carrie, AlohaMick was at the 4 pm meet in the lobby. After that, he was sitting with us at dinner. Didn't you see him?

If you all think he gets around, then check out my Facebook albums. He was the hit of the Disney Wonder Cruise with the crew and even some other guests. He got to sit in the captain's chair on the bridge, went to the engine room with the chief mate, and even had $5,000 diamond necklace around his neck. That was the most expensive item in the gift shop on board. Lots more fun photos.

OK, this is who I have for being on the Warriors for 2010...no one else has posted or let me know they want to stay.

Me
Kate
Sarah
Jim
Michelle
Erika
Marcia
Lily
Jeff
Carrie
and adding Stan

I will go let Maura (team coordinator) know what our roster looks like.

AFM: I let my doggie, Mickey, end her suffering this morning. This was something I had been struggling with for sometime and was a hard decision but it was something that needed to be done as she was fading away. Now she is at peace and that is something I have been thinking about a lot today.

-Tracy

I am looking forward to being part of the Warrior team. Thanks
for allowing me to participate. Do I need to post my mileage
and time for January?

If anyone wants I can put together a new spreadsheet for our team, like last year.
This way if you want to keep track of it there and see what other Warriors are doing that would be fine.
I will not be tracking again, but am willing to put the spreadsheet out there and give permissions again for whoever wants to do that.
Some teams are doing miles/minutes and some are not.

OK first challenge for the Warriors...

I Need a title for February!! Come on people, help me out!!!

Also there is a thread for the Valentine's Day Virtual race, come on let's get all the Warriors to participate. I think you can do either a 5K or a 10K. Go check it out and "sign up", you ask why? One to get a race on your calendar for Feb and the best reason of all, IT IS FREE!!!!!

-Tracy

Tracy i know i've said it already, but at least you can rest knowing you did all that you could. She would never have asked for anything more after a fab life with you. Giant squishy cuddle for you. I'm definitely up for hosting turkey trot as a team, have signed up for valentines run too even tho we'll be in paris! :rotfl:

Lily way to get back into it with an 8 miler :scared1: hope it went well.So impressed you made a 6am exercise class, that is warrior determination!

Sarah that is an impressive recuitment drive- how lovely that you can inspire so many people and make them see that their running ideas are possible in the most magical way ever! I have a feeling you're up for a wonderful vacation next year!

Michelle you had such a hectic exercise start to the week- no wonder you're tired! great effort tho

Marcia eek for the floods- it's not affecting your home is it? I'm having spin class withdrawal- there's something magical about being yelled at isn't there :)

Jeff love the photos- my mum was very amused by him!

Me went for my first outside run yesterday- 6miles, but it felt like the marathon again! Physio on thurs found i have built up a lot of scar tissue on my shin so i'm probably just feeling that. Enjoyed the run more than i thought i would. Oh and mum and dad have asked if i want to go away with them in April to..... WDW. Ha ha. Bf can't come as he teaches, but we talked it through and i'm heading over just for the 2nd week! Well i have to make up for the lack of sun right?!?!? wahoo.

Hey kids!!

I got in 1/2 hour on an exercise bike yesterday at work. Once again proved that I hate "non-moving" cardio, but it's better than a kick in the teeth I 'spose.........

Going on a road trip today to see my DD's Winterguard perform, so probably not much fitness work today.

Carrie - No, I did not come to Pop. Unfortunately, I always seem to get caught up in "in-laws" stuff when I come down, so I am just bad at making gatherings. I think in the future I WON'T plan on them and then maybe I WILL get there ............................... :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Lily - If you saw a hypothermic guy on a bike that appeared to not be enjoying life in any way at that particular point in time, then yea, it was probably me.

If anyone is going to the Princess, I (most likely) will be on my bike there. Try and find me!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Jim, I was in wintergaurd!!!I spotted you one in the MK, you need to have something lime green on!! That way it might make it just a tad bit easier to try and find you during the race. I will be at the Princess!

Kate: Thanks for all the kind words! Good job on the run, but keep those shins happy, get someone to massage out that scar tissue!

OK, Warriors I need you all to step up and join in on the Valentine's Day 5k/10k!!
Let's get all the Warriors to participate.
4 miles yesterday and 6 today and tapering for the ING Miami Half next week!

-Tracy

Lily - If you saw a hypothermic guy on a bike that appeared to not be enjoying life in any way at that particular point in time, then yea, it was probably me.
Oh yeah! It WAS you. I regret not calling out your name. I was so miserable myself by the time I realized what I should have done I was past and had no intention of back tracking even if I actually thought of it.

Tracy, hugs to you. I know it is not an easy thing to do, but we know it is the right thing. Mickey was truly a lucky dog to have you as pack leader.

Kate, what a great opportunity. WDW in April. I love Flower and Garden time.

Today is a rest day and that is what is mostly happening here. Well, laundry too. I'm also trying to keep my mind off the fact that our youngest son has officially fledged. He's moved into an apartment this weekend and officially flying on his own. He is living nearby so that is not horrible, yet I will miss him. I am happy for him.

Happy Monday Warriors!

15.1 mile bike ride today in VERY windy conditions.

The usual routine, foot on cold-pack, sit at computer, pull hair out watching stock portfolio flop all over the place, etc., etc........

Tracy - Winterguard Rocks! My DD is on an independent guard this year that has a really good chance to medal at World Championships this year. Another April trip to Dayton is in the works!

If anyone is going to the Princess, I (most likely) will be on my bike there. Try and find me!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

yeah, right. you're such a tease. Maybe I'll try this. I Double-dog dare you to introduce yourself to me at Princess! So sorry the foot is still misbehaving.

Lily? 8 already? You are amazing!

Tracy - When we decided that my Bruno dog had had enough, it ws based on the vaets advice. He said to try and figure out if you are keeping them alivve for them because they hav equality of life or because you need them. You need to make the right deicsion for them. I am so proud of you for taking the high road and ending Mickey's suffering. I am so sorry for your loss, though. :grouphug:

Kate - Woo hoo for another WDW trip!!!! Soory I won't get ot see you, though. :-(

Jeff - Ahh...maybe I did see him. From teh pix, I asociated him with Kate. I must have seen him at dinner, though.

Stan - Welcome!!

Sarah - Yay for all the recruits. Dh and i may have an extra 3 to 5 recuits ourselves in 2011.

Marcia - So glad you didn't lose it on the TM! Hope the legs continue to feel better!

I had a 6-miler from you-know where yesterdya. That core class really got my quads and hammy's too. While this shoul dbe good for me, I need to get to where I'm not sore fro 2 to 3 days after. Oh well, 6 in the book sand massage tonight. Yay! (Of course, guess who suggested teh core clsss. I think she just did it to help business. lol)
