Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on something that happened to us recently.
We were booked from 12/27/03 - 1/4 /04 at the OKW. Later on, we requested to be put on the waitlist for the Boardwalk. They asked if I wanted to be moved "day by day" as they became available, which I said was okay.
During the months preceding our trip, days became available at BW so they'd give us those days as they became available. Eventually, we got all of our nights at BW. Somewhere along this process, they didn't cancel out a few of the OKW nights.
A few weeks before we went down, I called to check on a request and realized in talking to the rep that they still had some OKW nights booked for me. She cancelled them and told me my points were going back into my use year.
Yesterday, I called to bank my 2003 points and was told that 65 of them were in "hold" status because I canceled within 30 days of a reservation! The person who adjusted the OKW nights obviously made a mistake....However, I had to speak to three different people and was on the phone 90 minutes before they agreed to adjust their mistake.
The bottom line advice I have is that if you go on a waitlist, make absolutely sure they promptly cancel out your first reservation once they move you to your waitlisted hotel. I am just glad I called yesterday!
