I received an e-mail from "PayPal" (NOT!) that says the following:

Notification of Limited Account Access RXI033

Sent By:
"PayPal" <service32255711@paypal.mail.com> On: Dec 12/08/09 10:07 AM

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the
PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding
your account.

For your protection, we have limited access to your account until
additional security measures can be completed.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used
to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center as soon as possible to verify your identity:

My PayPal account has been breached in the past and this was almost identical to the legitimate e-mail that I received. PayPal issued me a security key and now, each time I access my account, I have to push the button on my key chain and it randomly generates a 6-digit number. I have 30 seconds to input that number to access my account. Needless to say, my account has been secure ever since.

When I received this e-mail, I thought, "Oh no, not again!" The FIRST thing I did was open a new window and go directly to PayPal. I signed on, input my security code and ..... my account is perfectly intact! There is no "limited access". I knew this e-mail must be fraudulent so I closed my PayPal window and went back to the e-mail.

I clicked on the "link" and sure enough, it brought up a VERY authentic-looking "PayPal Resolution Center" screen. It gave two options: Sign Up for PayPal, or enter your e-mail address and password to log in to your account. iIf I clicked on anything besides "log in", nothing happened. I could not even "sign up". Hmmmm..... I entered one of my other addresses (not in any way connected to a PayPal account) and made up a password and "logged in". Sure enough, it said that access to my account has been restricted..."PLEASE ENTER YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION BELOW TO VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY"

BAM! Gotcha! The e-mail has been forwarded to PayPal already. Is there anyone else I should send it too?

How in the hell do these scammers sleep at night? Digusting!

My Mom has gotten similar ones that look like they are from Bank of America. They look real until you try to click on other links!

I got that email too and get 1 probably once a month saying the same thing.

I get those every so often... they really are annoying! I wish I knew who to send it to other than Paypal. If you find out, let us know!!

I get those ALL the time. I also get them from ebay and from banks with which I don't even have accounts. I just forward them to the appropriate e-mail scam department. For paypal it's spoof@paypal.com.

ON another note make sure to run anti-malware and anti-spyware and anti-virus scans on your computer as soon as possible. Frequently clicking the links triggers a key stroke or other tracking virus to be uploaded to your computer.

Right and this in turn allows the scammmer to still get your info. Never click on a link in an email or on a webpage that you think could be fraudulant.

"service32255711@paypal.mail.com"

That's what caught my eye as being fraud. It would've been service@paypal... not paypal.mail with a bunch of numbers.
I rarely use my paypal account, and barely ever have anything over 10$ in that account. My Disney emails are about the only ones I ever open, my disboard PM's are tossed into a folder and any email fwds people send me get tossed into another till I feel like looking at them. All the other stuff gets deleted. And surprisingly enough, yahoo does a pretty good job at sending stuff to the spam folder. As I get rid of junk mail, I click on Spam instead of just deleting, so it knows for later that stuff is junk.
