I know absolutely nothing about computer technology but I just wanted to advise people of what happened to me earlier tonight.
The only internet files I accessed tonight were aol e-mail - then clicked on e-mail from the dis - entered the dis through the link on the e-mail - which took me to the AI thread.
After reading several pages and posting a response, I then accessed the dialidol.com web sight (first time).
I then tried to enter the Dis through my favorites and experinced all kinds of problems. I was getting System Error failure messages. i was able to shut down my computer, but when I restarted and went to the internet I could not access my favorites at all. One of my sons was able to access his favorites lists, but not the posting board for some sport site he visits.
My son ran ad-adware and everytime it reached the file for my internet favorites the program would freeze. He was able to delete my favorites file from the computer and then re-ran ad-aware. This time it completed and we were left with a list of many files that were corrupted (not sure if that is the right word). Then my son deleted all of them.
I hope things are ok now. I no longer have a favorites list but I can reconstruct that easy enough. I just hope I didn't do any further damage to this computer.
