We just returned from a five night stay at HRH. There was quite a bit of rain last Sunday. By Monday most of the rooms in the end wing (the one by pool gate and the path to parks) were flooded. They had all of the doors open, the carpets pulled back and huge fans going. The smell was horrible. We were in room 1137 right around the corner from that wing. The smell was faint from our room and we thought about switching but were already settled in. Also we liked the location of our room, being close to park path except we had to hold our noses when leaving the building. I would avoid these rooms in the future especially if you have any type of allergies. This probably wasn't the first time these rooms have flooded and I'm sure they have mold problems.

Other than that we had an awesome vacation and can't wait to go back.

So the upper floor rooms were flooded too? Or did you notice?? Can you be more specific with which rooms. . . I ask because I do have allergies and so do 2 of my dd's. I have a very, very mild case of asthma that only seems to really bother me when house dust is blown directly in my face or I've been around mold for more than a few minutes. We've booked HRH for our next trip and I want to be certain I don't get one of THOSE rooms.

Thanks for any more details you can provide. . . much appreciated!

BTW . . . has anyone heard of flooding at HRH before?

That's not good. :scared: It may have happened before, but I've never heard anyone else mention it. Hopefully, they'll take proper precautions to assure it doesn't happen again.

The only time we have seen any flooding at the HRH was when Hurricane Jeanne went through and turned the place upside down. At one stage they had one side of the lobby blocked off with sand bags. It got a bit flooded down by the ballroom and at one stage I saw the table tennis table floating in the pool.

The next day the staff were outside clearing up at 6am. By the time we got down to the pool area it was like nothing happened.

This was what it looked like during the storm:

Just back today and never saw any evidence of any damage or smelt anything from that area!!

If you are standing facing the pool with the hotel facing behind you, it was the very end of the building on the left side (the very last wing of the building). I'm sure it was only limited to the first floor and that it was due to the heavy rains because when we came back from the citiwalk that day part of the path right before we entered hotel was flooded. We were in room 1137 which was the first room in the next wing of rooms. The room numbers went up as we headed to the end of the building to use that exit to get to the path to Universal. The rooms that flooded were the ones closet to the door on the both sides of the floor. We saw at least eight rooms with the doors open.

Glad to hear that the smell was gone by the time coastergirls visited. HRH was definetely all over the situation and I'm sure they would never put people back into those rooms if they were unsafe. However I know some people are more sensitive to mold, mildew, dust etc.. than others, which is why I wanted to give people a heads up.
