Warning !! Fast Passes have a time lock now

This is not good news if true. When we go in the summer it makes all the difference to pick a fastpass up for each ride as you pass. As we are staying at the Explorers this summer we are going to have to deal with this as well as EMH :scared1:

I am just wondering if we are going to have to change hotels:scared1:

It certainly makes the Disney hotels seem like the better option even with the extra cost.

You'll have to think carefully about which attractions to get FP's for, you could rush to BTM and get an FP 2 hours in advance and then find that Star Tours is only an hour ahead, but you couldn't pick one up for ST because you're already holding your BTM one - I can see that this might stop FP's running out at midday in peak seasons, but otherwise can see no benefit to the park or the visitors.:confused3

It's only BTM and PP we use Fastpasses for although after our next trip I'm sure we will be adding Buzz to the list. With my 2 boys I'll probably end up giving PP a miss unless we can find a time slot with no queue:sad2:

Ok that is good for the CC and the suites visitors! But most of us are regular visitors staying in a regular (Disney) room. And that means a lot will change for all of us!

Lets first wait and see what the real changes are.

The same system in America works without problems.

I think that the " wildgrowth “of systems for fast passes in DLRP is also not working.

What would you think if you heard people in front of you saying the have so many fast passes that they could play black jack or canasta with them?

Its just possible that by restricting the amount of passes more guests will be able to use them.

I don't really understand how do people fraudulently gain FP's.

Are you saying that "expired tickets will (or used to) get FP's out of the FP machines?

Oh boy - I've 4 in a purse from the last visit, 4 in a bedroom drawer and another 4 in a photo album.
I never thought they'd be of any use to anyone, just can't bare to bin them. In fact I have only recently twigged that on 2 occasions we could have sold the tickets on Ebay as they still had a day remaining on them :headache:

I'm in a moral dilemma now

According to the so called "experts "yes.
I personal don`t know if this it thrue so don`t shoot te messenger.
Never tried it as we have the vip.passes.
That has nothing to do with "class" but with our old bones.
Its hard to drag them through the park.

I just called with the suites-department and they assured me that nothing will change.
VIP passes are without these new restrictions.

(Thank god)

Thank You for Calling!

I would hate to pay all that money and not have that privilege!

Hi, if you brought them with a package holiday then you can only use them for the duration of your trip, so they will not be valid even if you did not use them for your whole stay. Thought I would mention as I know you stayed at a Disney Hotel so assumed you got the Hotel and ticket package.

Hello all,
Excuse my ignorance on this fast pass thing, but does staying in a Disney Hotel make any difference? And to clear this all up, have any of the board members who have just returned noticed a difference with the Fast Passes?
And can someone just explain in laymans terms for a newbie to DLP what this would mean. I know you could collect these passes first and then plan the times you go on the rides by theses fast passes, but what would this new system mean?
Sorry if i sound thick, but I'm not sure i get it,
Ta Kath x

Can any of those who have recently returned confirm whether the fast pass time lock is in operation??

If there is a time lock fast passes may go more slowly - and therefore be available later in the day even on busy days. This may be an advantage. We occasionally missed our time slot when we had lots of fast passes and got stuck in another part of the park.

Do the fast pass machines keep churning out tickets until closing time - evne when this is 10pm or later? Are fast passes available during EMH? If so for morning EMH a lot of FP may be gone before we get into the park since we are staying off site.

Hi Kath

You do not have to stay onsite to use the fastpasses. They are available to everyone in the park.

This is how a fastpass works - At all attractions with the Fastpass service, there is a number of fastpass machines .You insert your park entrance ticket into this machine and it immediately spits out your park ticket followed by a separate slip with a time window during which you should return to the ride and join the shorter Fastpass queue.

The new system would mean you can only have one fastpass at a time. Say you had a fastpass for Buzz that told you to ride between 10 and 11 you can only go and get another fastpass after 10am

The old system meant you could hold a fastpass for all 5 fastpass rides at once.

Hope this makes sense:thumbsup2

The fastpasses may not run out as quickly but I am sure the fastpass machines get closed down at a certain time of day

I am not sure how they will work the EMH days but if it is like WDW the machines will not be opened until the park officially opens.

Hopefully someone that is going in April will be able to clarify all our EMH questions;)

Thanks Jackie. I get it now.
I am off in the middle of April, so if we don't find out by then I'll let you know, but I'm sure there will be people going before me.
However they work, its still better than queuing for ages I suppose and not sure how many people really know about them unless they are prevelant disney-ites!

They are a well used thing especially in the summer months. Sometimes the machines have run out of tickets by lunchtime. You should be alright in April.

Just back and we got fast passes no problem. I got FP for Buzz lightyear 12.10-12.40, walked over to Space mountain and got FP for 11.40 - 12.10. Therfore we just went on 1 came off and straight onto another. They did close the FP machines quite early though.

That would mean everything is as it was! No changes!
Can anyone confirm what Maureen said??
