WARNING!!!!avoid the following resteraunts!!!!

What is left? Flame tree was great IMO. Had a balst at Biergarten. Never went to the others so I wont throw out any comments. Should we avoid Boma too? Chef Mickeys because you dont eat breakfast? Instead of a Code Red on these places, maybe you should just tell people what you didn't like about them and let them decide. It sounds like you found some good places to eat so your dining experiences weren't all that bad, but lets not trash restaurants just because "we're not into that kind of food"

It's actually the title of the posting, WARNING!!!!, that confuses me. I would think that a title like that would lead to a report of massive botulism, servers gone wild, credit card fraud or something equally dire, not just 'not a fan of German food, not a beer drinker, I guess just not my favorite'. Much less a warning to avoid certain restaurants, then the reason is 'the food was OK' or 'It's OK in my thought'. Avoid them because the food was OK? Avoid them because the OP doesn't like bratwurst or herring?

I'm sure the OP meant well. And I think that this thread, though slightly OT at this point, is maybe useful as an instructive thread to future posters. We do want honest reviews of restaurants. Had a bad time? Got lousy service? Found a bug in the soup? Let us know, and give us details! Had a great time? We want to know that, too. But the original post was just not a review, it was a list, and not an accurate one, given the updated 'reasons'.

JMHO, of course.

disney is great but there are some resteraunts to avoid.
sci-fi dine in- the food was o.k.
les chefs de france- it has gone down hill since the last time we ate there
the flame tree- ribs were too dry
hollywood and vine- i guess just not my favorite
abc comissary- not a big fan of it.
akershus royal banquet hall- not a big norwegian food person
beirgarten-not a german food fan
big river grille- not a beer drinker
citricos- it's ok in my thought
food quest.- blah!!
so if you like these resteraunts that is your opinion but this is just mine. it is ok to have an opinion.

Thanks for the edit. So. . . .

I have no issues with your chefs de france and flame tree reviews, because you at least provided some cursory description that would generally apply.

As for your sci-fi diner and citrico's reviews, I don't know that I care to avoid restaurants because you found them OK. That sounds more like an endorsement than a criticism.

Hollywood and vine -- are we to avoid all the restaurants in Disney that are not your favorite? Wouldn't it be easier to just tell us what your favorite Disney restaurant is and we can just avoid the rest?

ABC commissary -- well, if you want us to avoid it, I'm guessing you're not a big fan of it. Makes sense, in a way that does not provide us with any useful information at all.

The akershus and biergarten reviews were funny, though. I'm supposed to avoid German and Norwegian restaurants because you don't like Norwegian and German food? Thanks, I'll be sure to check out your ethnic food preferences before making reservations.

The Big River Grille review is the one that really gets me, though. Unless you are in the habit of ordering beer for dinner, I don't see the wisdom in avoiding a restaurant because it's on the beverage menu.

I typically try not to be overly sarcastic when responding to fellow forum members. In this case, I am doing so as constructive criticism. If it was ill-advised, forgive me, but so was this thread.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I think it is good information.

i was last there in nov.2005 but found all food very good. my favorite was alfredos. it was fantastic. the only complaint from my party of 5 was with big river grill. the food was good but since the entire place is metal (if i am correct in that this is the restaurant at boardwalk) the noise was so bad that i felt it could be damaging to the ear drums. and by the way, :) i already have a hearing problem. if it was loud to me, it must have been really bad.

So, let me see if I've got this straight. You are recommending that we all avoid all of the above not because there is anything at all wrong with the restaurants, the food they serve, or the service itself, but because you personally don't care for the type of cuisine/drinks they offer?!?

Gee, I don't care for mushrooms or scallops...should I recommend that everyone on the DIS avoid all restaurants that serve them just because I don't personally care for them? I really don't get the point of your "WARNING".

LOL!!!
We're supposed to avoid these places because the OP is a picky eater. :)

:confused3

Nice try! :)

I'm confused. I know there were several replies asking for more detail and some had an opinion one way or another, but I am a bit confused. If you don't like German or Norwegian food, why did you eat at those places? You went to Big River, and you don't like beer. Well don't drink it. I'm sure they had plenty of soda water or juice. That is like a vegetarian going to a steakhouse then complaining that there wasn't a good enough selection for them. For example; I strongly dislike the ABC Commissary so guess what?? I don't eat there. Beirgarten on the other hand is one of my favorite places to eat. Brats smothered in kraut and spicy mustard with a larger German beer mmmmmmm….

I'm not trying to be harsh, but that initial statement was (in my opinion) out in left field. I do however know that a lot of us here are interested in specifics. But describing a place as "blah!!" doesn't quite fit the bill.

Again, we are all entitled to our opinions. And this was mine, not intended as a bash or anything, just expressing my confusion, and opinion.
