Warning about danger when raining in the parks

Poor kid. I'm surprised they didn't take him in an ambulance to Celebration Hospital. My husband passed out after the TOT 10 Miler in October and the EMTs took him to Celebration.

Thanks everyone. My point about getting test done is not by any means saying EMS didn't do their job. Wasn't there, don't know. It is more a caution to not take a diagnosis at face value with something like this. Better safe than sorry.

Sending prayers for your nephew and family!

I agree with better being safe then sorry. My brother was in a car accident and when at the hospital he was told he had a concussion and sent on his way.

He did not feel right. Later that day he blacked out ended up back in the hospital, where after further tests they found out his brain had been swollen, had a brain bleed, and ended up with long term damage

My mother who has many medical issues fell hurt her leg and could not walk on the leg which she hurt. She went to the hospital and was told it was just a sprain. She was in extreme pain going home and she had a distance to walk to the door of her apartment and could not make it. Turns out it was broken and walking on it made it worse. She was in a rehab facility for 8 months.

Update-he is doing better than the docs expected. They kept him in ICU for an extra day. He is talking and walking a little. The doc told his parents he shouldn't be alive, they would have expected him to only last about four hours after such an injury. The said he he is a miracle boy. He has not cried, complained or fussed once. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers.

I'm not criticizing Disney, but there are some very smooth surfaces there that are more slippery than others when wet. I know this because I am a huge Crocs fan and usually won't wear them at Disney if I know its going to rain. This of course, is true in locations other than Disney as well - painted surfaces especially :).

Praying for your nephew, OP.

I second this. I love Crocs but they are super dangerous in the rain.

Poor guy! I will keep him in my prayers. His parents must be out of their minds with worry.

And honestly, any time a head injury is involved, you should ALWAYS get it checked out thoroughly. Better safe than sorry. As for Crocs... man, once some of the tread wears off, they are sooo slippery on wet surfaces. I've fallen a few times in them, and usually in front of a crowd.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us an update! What wonderful news too! So glad he is doing better, and I hope he continues improving at this fantastic rate :)

Glad to hear he is improving. Hopefully that continues and he gets to go home soon.

Thanks again, we appreciate the prayers and support.

Glad to hear he is doing better!!! I am with you on this head injuries should always be taken seriously and treated as such. TBI is no joke and you are seeing it more and more these days especially in my line of work.

Wonderful update, yooper. Happy to hear the good report, continued prayers.

Quite a few years back (when Toon Town was still at WDW) I took a fall after a rain storm. I was on a climber/playground with my grand kids....the stairs were still wet and slippery, and before I knew it, I came down them on my backside. I made it for a few more hours at the park (albeit very sore). Later that night, I was in a lot of pain and ended up at the emergency room. Nothing broken....but badly bruised and hurting. So......be careful out there folks!
Am glad to hear this little guy is doing better...and pray for his continued recovery.

I'm really glad your nephew is doing well. I'm confused though. Was he not taken to a hospital after the fall? If not whose decision was that? Vomiting in a child after a fall is always an indicator of a concussion.

Thank God! I'm glad he's doing better.

I'd get him a special t-shirt --
