Warning about baby bottles in paper?

As they say breast is best and then you can be sure that baby is getting milk and all of mother's antibodies :thumbsup2

Not everyone is able to breast feed though :guilty:

Im one of those people due to scar tissue from surgery as a teenager.

I have already bought some tommee tippee bottles and they have this chemical in, I am thinking I will get some of the new born free ones that dont contain it

Ditto, not all of us can breastfeed...slightly upsetting article, a bit late in the day for me now - am just glad Tilda's having some solids now so a bit less bottle.

Maybe glass bottles weren't such a bad idea... :confused3

Not all of us want to breastfeed! I know its the most natural thing but I find it totally unappealing :confused3

Haven't read the full report but I heard about it on the radio.
I agree that breast is probably best but like Natalie and others say, some women can't and others simply don't like the idea, both of which I can understand.
I breastfed my girls but very few people (me included) fully breastfeed until their infant is totally on solids and off a milk diet. Even when toddlers are having three meals a day they still have milk before bed, therefore I'm guessing 99% of infants come into contact with plastic bottles.
Another issue for the Daily Mail to turn into a guilt trip for parents :sad2:

It is a shame to worry new parents without giving all the facts. The article doesn't say how big the risk is. I know I wanted to protect my children from everything but an increase in a minimal risk is still a minimal risk.

I'm still waiting to hear if there is any risk from the use of sun creams. We know it is dangerous not to ue them but the amount of chemicals we slap on ourselves and our children in hot weather does worry me.

hi

I dont want this thread to turn into a breast versus bottle debate, that is a persons personal choice.

I simply wanted to talk about the chemicals in the bottles

I have been on the born free website and they have bottle without these chemicals, plus they have glass bottles too (which I am quite drawn to as well)

I dont understand why if theyre being banned from stores in the states no one is taking a stand over here, I wouldnt mind paying more for bottles as long as theyre safe

I agree. There is just one scare after another the pill, baby food in jars, should baby sleep on its front or back (and those are just off the top of my head!) and I as for the advice for pregnant woman :confused3

I asked DH about it. He's no expert but he is a Dr of chemistry and was fully aware about the chemical and how it can transfer into liquid. He also told me it was in a lot of plastics and gave me the example of those little milk tubs you get in hotels etc which you can never open:mad: . Clerarly the claims made in this report are concerning and I am sure that if this risk is considered significant that you'll be hearing a lot more about it.

Of course if you can use alternatives then do but if it's too late try not to worry. Parenting is a worrying enough experience :)
