Has anyone done this, planning to do it? I'm thinking about taking my dd12, future animal keeper, on it this August and would love reviews!

Loved it - a bunch of our photos here:

We did it last year, and we too plan to do it again. The only comment I have is that unless your 12 year old has mature tastes in food, it may not be worth the price with the included Jiko meal. The food is served family style, so there are specific dishes prepared and passed at the table. I know young palats can sometimes not be too open to new and exotic tastes.

Thanks all!

I've looked at the Jiko menu, and she will eat most of the meats, but not the sides. I'm hoping that they will be willing to snitch some fries from Boma. Or they will have some plain rice available. (She will NOT eat mac & cheese, so if they serve the wonderful Jiko kind, I get her share!) Anyway, she's the former fish sticks/chicken nuggets girl (sensitivity issues) who now enjoys a pretty big variety of flavors. Mostly asian, but she does like Boma.

She's an animal nut, so I'm hoping she really enjoys it. (I'm also hoping she gets an internship at AK someday... :rotfl:) Frankly, I'll enjoy both the tour and dinner, and if I have to feed her something afterwards, I'm sure she'll enjoy the tour enough for the cost.

Gkrykewy - I remember that same rainbow!!! Thanks for the pics. Do you remember, do they talk a lot about the animals and how they care for them??

Yes they do and you can ask questions throughout the tour if there is something you want to know. They talk about the individual personalities of some of the animals as well. By the end of the tour, you feel like you got to meet all of the animals you have been watching from the Lodge. Great experience!

Cool! It sure beat the 4/5 days of rain that preceded it :lmao: . Yep, the guide had expertise regarding the animals and their care. My wife is a veterinary student, and she got some good questions in. It was really great.

ok, now I'm doing this :woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

And I can't even book it yet!!!!!

Thanks. (Next we want to save for the AbD South African trip.)
