I can't believe that nurse knocked you out with morphine to watch the Red Sox win! I hope you complained and received suitable compensation.

I did complain. My compensation (after I called the hospital president)... was that they waived my $50 co-pay.

I yeah... I also got a sore butt out of the deal...

I'm sorry, but your story had me totally cracking up. At least they comped you something, even though it wasn't much.

OK... forget work... I'll post my story now...

I know that is isn't the Red Sox's fault, but I can't help but blame them...

It was during game 4 of the World Series with the Yankees....
I got really sick as my plane landed in RI. I ended up having emergency surgery.

My male nurse was watching the game at the nurses station. DH had to leave me alone so that he could check us into the hotel which was a $60 cab ride away! Anyway, I needed to use the bathroom, the nurse came in to put me on the bedpan, but was rushed because of all the other nurses cheering and yelling for him to hurry back. It seems that he was missing the game...

About 30 minutes later I paged him because I was having trouble using the bedpan. I really wanted to just get up and go to the bathroom. Well, as I was asking him to help me up, they started cheering out at the nurses station "Get out here, they are doing it, they are doing it! They are going to win!" SO, he told me that I would have to use the bedpan. I told him that I couldn't do it - it felt like wetting the bed!! AND I had to go so bad it was hurting. He said. "Oh, you're hurting?" When I said yes, he shot some morphine into my IV.

Well when I woke up... I WAS STILL SITTING ON THAT BEDPAN!!! I thought it had just been a few minutes, so I paged him again. Another nurse responded. I asked her to help me to the bathroom, and she said sure. Well you should have seen the look on her face when she saw that I was laying on a bedpan!! My Red Sox fan nurse had left over 8 hours ago!! I had spent the night on that stupid pan. She had to un-suction it from my butt!

I can't help but associate it with the team. So, I started to pull for them to loose. As soon as I did, THEY DIDN'T LOOSE ANOTHER GAME IN THAT SERIES!

So... all you fans can thank me for breaking the curse!!!

I do not know whether to laugh or cry for you...but HATING the Red Sox ...maybe this dude at the hospital in RI...but definitely not the SOX...and FWIW, this is probably a BAD DAY to start a Thread hating the SOX after last nights FABULOUS game!!!!

I'm a Braves fan who used to be a Yankee Hater. I have no dislike for the Yankees at all, their fans are MUCH less obnoxious than the Sox and all of their bandwagon fans.

I have never seen so many fake fans pop out of the woodwork for any team in my life. I HATE the Red Sox.

Don't hate the Sox because the Braves can't even fill the stadium for the first round of the playoffs. Oops, looks like you don't have to worry about that this year.

Sorry, couldn't resist this. I grew up a Red Sox fan and also followed the Braves quite a bit with dad. It has been fun watching the Bravos for the last 14 years.

Bandwagon fans? Its a fact that Boston has been one of the greatest baseball cities for many years. The only bandwagon fans are the ones coming from other parts of the country.

Also, as far as bandwagon fans...where are all those Cowboy fans that used to be everwhere you went? Seems they disappeared.

I do have to agree with you though that after the World Series, Red Sox Nation grew quite a bit. I used to be able to get Spring Training tickets no problem. After the WS, forget about it.

Yeah, Boston isn't a good place to live when you hate baseball.

The Pats are my team and it kills me to hear Sox talk on the radio 24/7. It could be a week before a Patriots Super Bowl and they'll be talking about what the starting line-up will be come April.

A tad bit OT: My DS is headed to PRACTICE tonight to watch the PATS @ Gillette. A buddy of his got tix!!!! No Tom though, I don't think he is there just yet!!! Just had to share because he is so pumped!!!

Ahhh, someone who feels my pain. My dbf has been talking about taking me to spring training next spring. I agreed, but I told him that I'll be spending all my time at the hotel pool and he can go do whatever it is that baseballs fans do when they're in the presence of their idols.

Are you saying that Yankee fans are bandwagon fans? Not the ones I know--and I know quite a few. Heck, I'm a Mets fan & I can name most of this years team, last years team, and teams of long ago.
