All 4 of my family members got a window. Our results were mixed. The one event we absolutely wanted was lacrosse finals and we got those. I think we got the uber-rare $28 tickets for the women's final and paid closer to $100 for the men's final. We also got;
Women's golf early rounds
Sport Climbing
Artistic Swimming
Rugby women's group
Women's Basketball bronze medal game
Lacrosse women's group
Team Handball women's group
I don't have it in front of me how much we paid but I think only one of those was the $28 ticket, all others were $100 or less. We could not get Rowing and passed on Track & Field and Canoe Sprint because it was just too expensive. Closing ceremony was also available and WAY too expensive so passed on that.
There will be future drops and the Olympics are still 2 years away. I would not panic yet. There are always the ticket brokers if you really want to go to a particular event. It's a tricky thing - they need to give everyone a shot at tickets, not just the lucky few who get early access, so A LOT of tickets are being held back...for now.
A couple of notes;
They REALLY should not have done the $28 ticket gimmick and instead just lowered the price for all tickets.
Mayor Bass has announced that there will be NO PARKING at any of the venues. That's really bad news if she expects us to all ride the regular buses and light rail in LA - it's TERRIBLE and only about 30% of the residents in LA even think it is safe.
Not to get political, but hope and pray that Spencer Pratt wins the Mayoral election because you've already seen Mayor Bass' plan. This is it - she has no plan. I have only seen one project outside of the LAX peoplemover. That will take you to the rental car parking structure and not much of anywhere else - to get a car you will not have parking for - make it make sense. Oh, the other project? Preliminary, as in, not even close to shovel ready, renovations to the bus shelters on a road in a part of town you do not want to be in - Olympics or not.
Even after all of the criticism, The Olympic ticket distribution is FAR better than FIFA is doing for the World Cup. That was a complete joke. As much as I wanted to go to a game or 2, that's just not going to happen.
