I did the Warm Delights/Curves event today and actually enjoyed it! lol It kept me so busy that the time flew by! My store did not have the Warm Delight, did not have enough Curves bars, and took 3 hours to stock the cereal. If they had it all in stock like they should have, they would've sold a ton of all 3 today!
It took 30 minutes to locate all the products I needed in the back. That was with 2 stockers helping. I have no idea how my report is going to go time wise. This is my first event since they made the changes.

QUESTION... How do you feel about Meijers for future events... NEVER AGAIN!!

I had the worst experience with the pompus management there.. Never again taking a meijer event.

One store I'd go to in a heartbeat.:thumbsup2 The other only as a last resort. :sad2: Neither store was expecting me. The grocery mgr at store one thought possibly I/someone should have alerted them and she'd had more product ordered, but was pleasant about it. She showed me exactly where to set up for electric and said to have her paged if I needed anything. The demo lead from Elite, who does Meijer demos, came by to check me out. She had a clipboard where she was evaluating "her girls". I thought she was evaluating me too, but I don't think so. She said she'd have to "flunk" me in a joking manner because I had product on the floor and my area was a mess. Unlike their regular demo people I don't have a cart to hide my "crap". She asked who I worked for and I told her MC. She said we do MC all the time. Come to find out, their kits come from MC. All in all a good experience. Store two, nobody to show me anything. Went to CS desk and told them what I was doing and needed to be close to electric. Paged mgr and was told to set up in center isle near display. Get there and of course, no electric. Looked around couldn't find a good place to set up. One Elite demo lady was still there and she asked another employee who help me find electric right in front of meat. They don't have the bunkers like WM where you're between meat and grocery. No, I'm in meat. This store was old, tired and busy, but had the gone amuck kids with no parents. The question where we were asked how many people you'd refer to work at Meijer - 0-50. Store one I answered 50 and store two 20.

Could this possibly be an agency that doesn't do online scheduling? I don't remember Elite being brought up in this thread.

Well okay, I clocked in at 10am (waited until 10:20am up front before Mr.******* decides to answer the 50 billion pages!!)

So I ask him where to set up, he said who are you? so I whipped out the letter.. his reply was, "so this tells me NOTHING about your demo... where are the dates where are the times?" so I show him my event form... he looks at it and says, 11-4 why are you here now. I ALMOST rolled my eyes and said, because I have to do a double at this store and another one so my times are screwy... anyways, where can I set up? (10:35am now) So he finds me a place up front... cool beans. I get all set up (10:45am now with all the b/s). I do a helluva job demoing... sell out of everything except that cereal. So I start packing up at 1:30pm

I go to get him to sign and he says, "I am not signing anything, you haven't filled anything out... I said that is questions about the quantity of goods and amount sold and customers I handled and how the demo at this store turned out... I fill that out later. He said there is no time... when did you start? i am not signing this w/o a time. So I said curtly my receipts are my clock in and clock out.. we can't fake it and you know I was here because I talked to you in the beginning. Then he said what does the receipt say?... I said 10am. he said, "when did you get all set up?" I said around 10:30am.. he looked at me and said you sure... i was thinking more like 10:45am. Doesn't you company expect you to be set up at a specific time. I replied... well I had to wait until 10:25 for someone to show me where to set up. This is a new store and we were told to get that direction from a manager which is what I did. He signed it and I left pissed off.

Now the other store (10mins from my house was good) but Meijers managment at the first one just left a bad taste in my mouth... I am thinking about not spending my money there anymore either. those pompos *****.

I don't blame you! He's a total jerk and pretty soon he will find out what he really gets for these jobs, especially if they're like some of the people I've seen. Part of the reason why I signed up to work with MC was from looking at your pictures on this thread - you looked very energetic and happy and I needed some sort of transition to get myself back around people because I've literally been sick for 7 years straight (long story, but new medication in April gave me part of my life back and that included 2 trips to WDW since April to make it up to my kids lol).

We don't have Meijers in Minnesota. Don't give up on the one close to your house just yet - but I wouldn't go back to that other one, even for double the pay.

brivers - :grouphug: It’s unfortunate your bad experience was at the first store. I don’t know how you managed to go to store two. Luckily, my first store was a gem and the second while not as bad as yours was not a place I’d like to return to. :sad2: At store two, I waited in line 15 minutes to get a signature. One CS clerk working and only two people in line ahead of me. I entered my data from Store 1 into the reporting system with just under 4 hours event & pre/post time. I wanted Store 2 to accurately show how long I waited for CS to get a signature and kept getting a message about working OT and to verify my results. I tried tinkering around with times for both reports to not get error messages for working more than 8 hours in a day, but finally gave up after ½ hour.

LanaJae - I don’t know if Elite does online scheduling or not. I always thought Meijers had their “own people”, but they apparently, for years, have used the Elite staffing agency. I’ve not seen the demo people at the Meijers closest to my house wear name tags, but the people at Store 1 were wearing name tags that said Elite. The demo lead told me their parent company, but I can’t remember. I was too busy trying to do my job to pay close attention to what she was saying. Something that started with a “R”, I believe.

Found a new use for old demo tables - saw horses. :rotfl2: I've been painting my daughter's room and needed to take off her closet doors to paint and only have one set of saw horses. It dawned on me that my demo tables could hold 50 lbs. so I set two up and used them. Worked great.

Thanks, I'm still trying to figure out how the MC people are working at a regular Target here - none of those jobs show up online and the one lady I spoke with said she doesn't schedule online.

Good idea for the tables! I brought 2 tables to the Salute thing and then I realized that the tables they are sending don't have the wrap-around plain cardboard thing in them. They look terrible with out that and it adds stability.

I had one table that was damaged in shipping and I filled it with things to hide under my bed (like 30 free tubes of toothpaste from CVS lol)

I'm a day behind here! The boys are back in school so mama gets her computer back!
I could have used an assistant at todays event.... So many people just took samples while walking by that I didn't even try to talk to them while getting samples out.
I felt the same way! I only really talked to a few people because I was so busy.
I think we not only had too many products to demo, we had a huge QUANTITY of samples for 5 hrs.
I had a ton left over. The manager was excited to see how much the breakroom would get!

Oh...and 5 hrs. LOL I ended up swiping out so my receipts would make 5 hrs & then went back to my area to finish cleaning up & do trash..
I ended up doing the same thing. People kept coming up and asking questions, or begging for samples, while I was trying to break down. So, with that and all the products, it took longer than I thought it would.

I went in not in the best of moods.
I LEFT not in the best of moods. Then, as I was loading my car, I dropped my folder with my papers in a puddle of water (probably the only one in the lot!), and then stepped in gum!

As I was leaving, a walmart employee commented that he hadn't seen me for awhile (probably due to Friday and Thursday jobs). He said he hadn't seen ANY vendors (demo person) in months. That was when I realized I was the only one handing out samples Saturday. I don't think I've ever been there on a Saturday alone before. The last Saturday I worked, there were five of us there. Usually Sunflower demos, and 1 or 2 MC. So I thought that was interesting to know there haven't been alot of demos here lately, not just MC.

I did the Caregiver Event at Kmart on Sat. There was supposed to be 3 different demos at the same time. When I go back to the pharmacy to set there was a couple already there setting up. I thought must be the other 2 people but no just the wife was demoing. The husband sat in the pharmacy waiting area ALL day. He told me they only lived 5 minutes from there. Is it me or does that seem weird that he had nothing else better to do than sit in a Kmart pharmacy on a Saturday afternoon? :confused3 The wife told me she has been doing demos fot the last year or so. She said she called her sister to come up & see her. The sister gets there at 1:45 & proceeds to stand there & chit chat until 4:00.

She definitely got the better demo... I had Depends, colgate, soft-soap, & Benefiber coupons. She had Advil PM samples, bunny ears from Energizer, water bottles, & cottonelle wipes to hand out. The third person never showed but the kit was there.

On Sunday, I did a demo for another company called MCG Connect. I demo'd a $200 blender. I made smoothies all day at Bed Bath & Beyond. It was fun. The sent me a kit with gloves, cups, napkins, & a $20 visa gift card to buy smoothie stuff. They said the pay once per month on the 15th. They asked me to do 2 more at the store. I think I will do one of them because nothing is coming up around here.

I sure wish my Kmart had this demo - the other one sounds like fun! The smoothie job does too.

I'm doing the Caregiver Event as an off-date. I have the Depends, Poise (and water bottles), Advil, Cottenelle, and Energizer hearing aid batteries (with the rabbit ears).
So how was it demoing Depends?
I wasn't sure about taking the event, but when I saw the rabbit ears, I thought it would be okay!
Why someone would want to sit in a pharmacy all day I can't imagine. I don't like sitting there waiting for my prescriptions!

I actually had the Kmart brand depends. The lady doing the other demo just kept asking people if they knew someone who used them & would hand them a coupon. The rabbit ears were a big hit with the kids.

GA: offdates for 3 m pet dental Sept 25, 26, 27 are up.

One off date popped up here but I don't think the kit would get here by Wed or else i'd book it! Funny how an offdate popped up for it, but I never saw the event before it went offdate :confused3

October is booked for me (pretty much--I have 5 events after unbooking 2this week). I have one for Nov. 4. I am now overly anxious waiting for November. Can any experienced reps tell us if Nov and Dec are slower than the rest of the year due to the holidays or busier than the rest of the year due to the holidays? Thanks.

Nov and Dec were ok, I had plenty of events last year.. I had 9 for November and 7 for December.... Could of had 9 also in Dec but I unbooked 2 events .... Hope they do the coffee makers again or something like it... those were great!! Only 4 hours and you got paid to train!!!
