I did Hungry Jack today. They didn't go over so well here.

I'm doing the yogurt and soy milk tomorrow.

I just picked up 3 Coppertone off-dates for 5/8, 5/9, & 5/10. OMG ---someone smack me! This event better not suck. :rotfl: And I'm already doing another event 5/11 Fri. Thank goodness I'm not working 5/12 & 5/13. I have to visit parents for the weekend on Cape Cod.

I switched a Walmart for a Target on 5/19 to save me some driving. Gladly give up 1 hr of work for a much closer store with the price of gas now.

Todays Yoplait Whips & Soymilk. BRING MORE SPOONS. I ran out of spoons about 20 minutes before the end. I went thru 41 yogurts. (I bought 30, then 17 more & had 6 left over.) No strawberry, so I used Key Lime, Choc Mousse, Raspberry & Orange Creme. No idea how many I sold since it was hard to count yogurt on top shelf before & after; and they restocked twice on me. But I must have sold ALOT.

I bought 1 choc & 1 vanilla soymilk. I had JUST enough to sample out. And sold 4 vanilla & 5 choc. I know at least 3 of those were from people sampling today.

Off to get ready for Hungry Jack Potatoes tomorrow.

Some of this $ better start ending up in the savings account pretty soon.

Hey did Hungry Jack today. I bought the amount listed and used it all! It kept me busy, wasn't too bad. I did the two measuring cup thing and took some paper towels and a water bottle to clean out my pan. Hey splash where did you get a tablecloth? Do you just use a regular size one and fold it? You most definitely need one for this event. I had a hard time getting anyone to buy the products. Once they found out it was a recipe and there were multiple steps involved most people were not interested:sad1: But lots of people liked it or so they said.

Natalie, I bought a white plastic tableclothe at The Dollar Tree. $1 They are for long party tables. So, you cut it in 1/2 & you get 2. :) Wipe down & re-use. I've also buy plastic gloves that I like ALOT better than what they send, measuring spoons & cups, little black basket for napkins & utensils, any cooking utensils, trash bags.

However, overtime, MC has started to send measuring cups & a occasionally a plastic tableclothe (but not often at all) & now hot pads. So, now I have duplicates & triplicates on some stuff.

Earstou, thanks about the salt info.

anyone know if there is ANYTHING in the NY / NJ area? :confused3
I can't find anything at all other than actual full / part time jobs,

TIA

Splsh, Yes I had the same problem with the spoons, luckily there wasnt barely any product so when i purchased the whips and milk i could only buy 18 whips and 1 milk, there was no choco and only 4 reg milk and hardly any whips and NO key lime, so i did strw and choco whips. But yes i too started to run out. I really hate doing events where they are not stocked, its seems that i ALWAYS have this happen to me. The whips were the only yogurt NOT stocked fully at the WM. Everything else was full, I just dont get it.

My stapler broke & i asked DH to staple my reciepts to my event report & mail it for me, well that was on Monday ! My event was a week ago. I took the mail to the postoffice last night- does anyone know if I will be "docked" any pay for not getting this in earlier?

No.. I been late on at least two occasions & nothing was docked.

I'm back from the Tostitos flour tortilla chips and dip. The store was busy a lot of people came and sampled and bought :thumbsup2. I almost ran out of product to sample. There was only 7 of the one dip left I had to have them restock 3x. Now ST has just the 7 left till they get a new shipment. Pretty tasty stuff good thing the one I really liked went like wildfire. So not on my diet.

I never want to see Yoplait Whips again  I finally got to use napkins this event :rotfl: since I kept getting yogurt on me and the table.

Nobody but me tried the soy milk. Not one person.

I must have been cranky too cause this one woman made me mad. She came over and stole sppons and napkins and then had the nerve to pour baby vienna sausage juice in my trashcan :sad2: I was not happy with her. I finally told her to stop taking my supplies and she rolled her eyes at me.

I went to a CT Walmart Supercenter today for the first time. I've got to go look back at last years replies, but, this quite possibly could be the store that Vald1977 & someone else complained about management.

I was told by a Sunflower demo man that I HAD to use latex gloves from the deli. I couldn't use the gloves MC sent. :confused3

He also told me I HAD to use a blue apron from deli. I couldn't wear my black apron. :confused3

I couldn't set up at the end of the bunker like I & everyone else does at other stores. I HAD to set up on the side of the bunker....blocking traffic.

Of course, he doesn't tell me any of this before. He tells me AFTER I'm set up...and over the course of 3 visits to my table in the first hour. So, in other words, he was watching me...and felt he needed to "correct" me. :sad2:

I did confirm with a dept manager that yes, the store manager (not in today) wants you set up on the SIDE, not the end, of the bunker. Fine. He also said to listen to the Sunflower man because he's here all the time & knows what to do.

I had the 1/2 & 1/2 and butter in a bag with hold sign on it right behind me in a nearly empty bunker. A worker comes to straigten product there & starts opening & removing my bag. I tell him its mine & explain. He looks at me & says "you better not let them see that there. You'll get in trouble. They don't like that." :confused3

OK, WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THIS STORE???????

I ask a worker if he wants a sample. He looks around scared & says he'll get fired. :confused3

Stupid bowl overflowed twice in the microwave while cooking. What a mess.

I sold all Cheddar & Bacon potatoes except for 3 boxes. Encountered a # of people who wouldn't try it since they can't eat bacon due to religion.

oh my goodness, that place sounds awful! Are you scheduled for anymore demos there?

Luckily NO. I really didn't mind the 1 hr drive there. It was a nice country drive.....but MAN, are they uptight control freaks or what?

Splash it sounds like you had one heck of a day. I hope you don't need to go back to that store anytime soon. You need to put your feet up & have a drink (tea, coffee, wine or whatever you drink).

On another note, I just picked up Flat Crisps off date (my 1st one). The kids will be at school so no babysitter needed!

I was perusing my portfolio & I noticed I have 2 points & my school has 6 & 4 participants. Does that mean others from my school are doing this job?

Well, I actually, I was getting annoyed to say the least. :rotfl: So, I decided to mess with a demo lady from Pfiser (?) that was trying to recruit me. She's going on & on how they get paid $10/hr & $10 for bringing a microwave. They are the largest company on the east coast, blah, blah, blah.

She asked who I worked for. Told her MC. She's insisting ( ) they pulled out of CT Walmarts at beginning of the year. She said she received a memo saying so........

At this point I had enough. I told her how much we get paid & $12 for the microwave.

She just walked away. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wow Splash, you sure had a rough day!!!! If I were you I would NEVER take admo there again.

Well once again I was at SWM, a different one than yesterday tho and of course what is there not a ot of, my product. I had to by 6 boxes of ceral, that means i left 10 on the shelf, sold out in hour 2 1/2..lol...and after that everyone was upset they couldnt buy, nobody from walmart doing anythig about restocking!!...ugh!! other than that it went well, i also ran out of souffle cups and i had even used the leftonver ones from my demo yesterday, had to call the weekend team to ask if i could purchase more with money left on the card, so walmart didnt have any souffle or small cups so i had to buy 9oz cups to thorw a few flakes of cereal..HAHAHA, oh well, otherwise it was a good event, no real complaints but i just hate that everytime i have apopular product theres never enough stock for people to purchase. I must have the worst sales record of the bunch here on spi!!...lol

Question for all of you Mass Connections pros...

My mom is "handicapped" only in that she basically has no muscle function of her left knee. So, she can walk with help, shes just slow, and we use a wheelchair if we are going long distances. She is looking for a part-time job just for something to do and also to get a little extra Disney money. I was reading and was wondering if you think it would be at all feasible for her to do this. I or my sister could get her there, get everything set up and ready to go, and then leave and pick her back up. I guess I'm mostly wondering if a lot of moving around is required once you get everything set up, or is it mostly when you arrive and leave?? She would have no problem sitting, handing samples out and visiting with customers. Thanks to anyone who has any input!!

Unfortunately, MC's requirements are that you need to be able to stand for 5 (or is it 6) hrs. No sitting allowed. Lifting is required too at times. But, that's not to say that other companies have the same requirements. For instance, I often see people who work for other demo companies sitting in between - but not while waiting on customers.

There is physical work sometimes other than setting up & breaking down. You need to be able to get more product from shelves for your display & for customers. I've had to go to back rooms, load a cart, pull it out to the shelves to restock soda 12 packs. I've had to stand in the dairy case to be able to pull yogurt from the top shelf closer to the front so I and customers could reach it. And get down on hands & knees to count product on bottom shelf. Also, not sure on how stores would feel about you or sister going into their backrooms to dispose of trash since you aren't the employee of MC - liability issues. (Sorry, that's my insurance background talking.)

Occasionally, but not often, the job involves roaming the store. In other words, you don't have a table or one spot to stay at. You have a cardboard tray thing strapped over your shoulders & you walk around & approach customers. It can get heavy & tiring. Luckily, there aren't alot of those events. And she could always not take those jobs.

Now, I'm not saying she can't. I'm just giving you some examples of some problems she might have. Its a pretty physical job. I've broken a sweat more than once - that's for sure. ;) Its more than sitting handing out samples & talking.

I meet alot of ladies who tell me they used to do this kind of work. Most say they had to give it up because of their legs / knees & the standing. I stand on an anti-fatigue mat & still come home with tired feet sometimes.

Here are some current job ads for MC. We'll let you be the judge if SHE meets the minimum requirements. She can always apply. MC will be the one to decide.

How about a Walmart greeter? I've seen men & ladies in wheelchairs, or sitting down, & in those motorized chair things the stores have. (The name escapes me. lol)

I had kind of guessed that that would be the answer from what I had figured out from reading posts. Thanks for the quick reply!! Its not a big deal, we'll find something more manageable!
