Natalie, how many events have you done? Have they just been at SuperTarget? Any other questions to help ease your mind?

I like to put my coat inside the middle of the table before I put the table top on.
I find the plastic gloves make my hands sweat terribly. I keep a travel size baby powder in my bag & just put on a tiny amount before slipping on gloves.

Thank you splashmtn99! I would feel lost without all of the great advice.

You're welcome. I forget that we have some newbies that probably couldn't possibly read this entire thread any longer. We did encourage it...but I think its gotten kind of long now. :rotfl: You know your job, its just the little tips here & there that are buried in this thread that we can't find anymore.

This is only my second event and the first was at supertarget, which was very easy since everything is there for you. I noticed on some paperwork I was reading that if you have any left over product that you don't use you aren't allowed to take it home? So I would just leave it at the store? Does this go for the aluminum foil and cooking spray also? Your list has helped me out tremendously I have everything all together and ready to go.:)

We are supposed to leave any Cinn Rolls with the store. You can take the foil & spray home with you for any future events.

Once you get more experienced, you'll start to judge if you will need to buy ALL the demo product they say to. If I don't think I'm going to use it all, I buy less, so I don't end up having to leave it with the store. If I goofed & need to buy more that what I first bought less of, then I just buy more. LOL Did I lose you on that?

EX: Tomorrow is Friday. I'm not really so sure I'm going to need 10 rolls of rolls. Sometimes the weather will effect my decision too (snow, rain, beautiful day & no one shopping.....) So I might buy 6 rolls lets say. Once I know how fast I've going thru them, I'll decide how many of the remaining 4 rolls (if any) that I'll go buy after break. Alot of times its just a guessing game. We aren't required to do this. I just HATE leaving stuff with them that I know they are just going to throw out. Its just me.

Natalie77 Relax and have a good time. Cinnamon rolls should be easy. You won't have many people saying yuck.:thumbsup2

Oh I throw in a small pair of scissors, scotch tape and an extra pen.

Those instructions should include the weekend number. My old sleeve for my card had it on it but I had to return that cause my card got demagnetized.

Yes, I have an index card with all contact info in my bag. MC's address & all phone #'s with extensions & email addresses. Especially after someone here had to file out an incident report & insurance forms when a customer fell & was injured right near her table.

Oh, and the cinn rolls, I used the handle end of the knife to keep poking at the biscuits tube to pop it open. Just be careful with the knife ended facing up towards you. I didn't have anything else to use to get it open.

I was thinking last night those instructions really did suck. They expected you to start cooking another batch when you've given out 1/2 of prior cooked batch. Yet, what did they expect you to put the cooked ones on while you used the tray to bake again? LOL I suppose the foil you baked on. And cut on the foil? :confused3 I'm definitely bringing a small cutting board from past events.

Are you guys baking entire tube of 8 or just 1/2 each time like we did with biscuits? Any thoughts? Instructions didn't say. I know when I make them at home in the regular oven, they are tight in the pan I use & end up touching each other when done. Not sure about toaster oven tray. I'm not sure if they'll get cold if I cook up 8 at a time.

Sales pitch: I was thinking of mentioning Easter is next weekend. Nice breakfast item. :thumbsup2

I am just making 4 at a time, cutting them up on a cutting board and then begin to cook some more.... I found out with the biscuits that if you cooked more than 3 at a time it was a waste.... So I will see with these if I need to go with 3..... I got tired of tossing the cold biscuits.... And then sometimes you would get caught with no done biscuits......

OMG :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: Has anyone ever received an oven mitt & pot holder in one of their kits? I just opened my Cinnamon Rolls kit, & the ones in there are GAWD AWFUL UGLY!!!!! Worse than anything from a Dollar Store. :lmao:
1950's green with big yellow, purple & white flowers, with blue & white striped edging. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So much for the sleek black & white appearance. lol These are sooooo Suzy Homemaker. NOT!!!!
Mine aren't quite as ugly: dark blue background with yellow, brown and white flowers with blue striped edging! Certainly cheap looking. Boy did they stink when I first opened them. I left them to air out for a while and they are better now.

Another thing I've started taking with me is a small lint brush. I often end up with crumbs on my apron when cooking rolls and other such food. The lint brush removes that quickly. Plus it seems my black pants are a lint magnet.

Does SPi give nametags? I have one from TMT, but none from SPi, so maybe I don't have to wear one?

No nametags with SPI.
Lint brush is a great idea. My apron has stuff stuck to it all the time.

Hey guys! I have a question? I was on e-booking this morning and notice something weird. I had scheduled an event a couple of weeks ago for 4/14. We then thought that in-laws were coming into town so I unbooked right away. Well turns out in-laws aren't coming (they are pretty unreliable but thats another story). So anyways another event by me popped up for 4/14 I was excited so immediately booked it. So this morning when I went on my events it says that event has been unbooked by me?? I never unbooked the second event? Any ideas why this could have happened? Would it have anything to do with the fact that I unbooked the first event for that same day?

I've had their system unbook events on me before. See if the event is still available, if so, just re-book it. I've always shot an email off to them to tell them....and they've just acknowledged computer problems. But it hasn't happened to me in a long time.

On the otherhand, it could have something to do with you being new & unbooking...but you did do it well in advance, so I'm not sure. Just try booking it again if its still available. If its not available, you are out of luck.

Good luck.

waiting waiting waitng :)

Sent in my fax on Wednesday...........hurry up hurry up hurry up :)

FWIW, you guys rock!

Thanks

Brandy

I had my first "seagull" customer today. I had run out of cooked cinn rolls & had a few people hanging around as I took them out of oven & frosted them. I start cutting a roll & this one lady (about 55 - English as 2nd language I'm assuming) just "dives" right in & "steals" half a roll right off my cutting board as I'm in the process of cutting it. :scared1: I literally stopped, looked up with eyes wide open, my jaw dropped open, & she's LAUGHING. :headache: I looked at her (with everyone else looking at her too) & said "that's NOT the size I'm handing out, AND THANK YOU so much for waiting for me to cut them.". :sad2: She walked away still laughing. Well, then the others started commenting about what she had just done - so I joined in too - and her family just stood there & waited. :rotfl: Well, enough of that TWIT!!!

I got some emails from a few people doing event tomorrow & wanted to know how it went today. This event keeps you BUSY. But its easy. Store had only 18 of the 8count tubes. If I bought 10, that left 8 to sell; and I didn't want to buy less since I knew they would be popular. So, instead, I bought enough of the 5count tubes to equal the 80 cinn rolls I was supposed to demo. I took 16 5count tubes to register with foil & spray, but only had enough $ to pay for 15 5count tubes & foil & spray ( leaving 75 cents for swipe out). No biggie.

I started out first batch of just 3 rolls, then 4 rolls, then decided to just cook entire 5 roll tube at a time. As soon as I was down to 2 rolls, I put another tray of 5 into the oven. You REALLY needed to use your time well. While tray was cooking, I would unwrap & pop another tube, but leave it in the bag of product in the dairy case near me. I would also get another piece of foil out. This way, when I needed to get another tray into the oven QUICK while in middle of cutting samples, I could do it fast.

When rolls were cooked, I kept them wrapped in foil & on top of oven to stay warm. When rolls were cooking, I put the plastic cup of icing on a napkin on top of oven to soften it some.

I think I only threw away about 4 samples that had gotten cold.

I CANNOT see doing this demo without a cutting board. But you could skip spatula/turner. The rolls came off foil very easy due to spray. I cooked rolls for 8 mins. Anything longer started to get slightly burned around top edges. ( ;) You can just pull off any burned edges & cover it with icing. LOL)

And ABSOLUTELY bring some water to clean up. In between batches & cutting, when ever possible, I was washing down board & knife. If you have extra gloves, BRING THEM. I use my own gloves from the Dollar Tree that I like better. I had a new package of 100 with me & was sooooo glad. You will use a ton of napkins wiping icing off your gloves, board & knive. Tableclothe good idea too.

I mentioned to people they also came in reduced fat & sugar free. Sold some of those types too just by mentioning that since people didn't know & were diabetic or on a diet. One diabetic lady told me the sugar free ones taste just as good as the regular ones. And play up Easter being next weekend.

Anyway, I sold 14 of the 18 8count tubes; and 3 of the remaining 14 5count tubes after I bought my 15 tubes. Pretty good day for a beautiful Friday afternoon. :thumbsup2

Good luck to others. If you are cooking them on a busy Sat....you MIGHT almost need to cook 8 at a time & put in another tray when down to 4. They samples went fast & you need to wait 10 minutes for another batch.

I was too busy to even get a picture taken. lol

Oh, I forgot. I used the equivalent of 7 (8ct) tubes to sample. At the beginning, I had some waiting in between batches until I tweeked my batch sizes. I'm sure you'll use more on a weekend.

Sorry so long. I talk too much.

The hot pads smell VERY fishy when you bake them:rotfl2: I was baking a batch of rolls and thinking how bad they smelled- almost fishy. Then I thought that was what the hot pad smelled like, and there is no hot pad in sight!!! It had stuck to the bottom of my pan and I was baking it. :scared1:
Turned out okay, but I had it stick a few more times, so had to keep an eye on that. The mitt would smell too when I got it hot from the pan (NO, I didn't bake it, too) so I'll wash my next set before using.
I wished I had taken a different knife for frosting the rolls. The one in the kit has a pointed end and it's not easy to get the frosting out of the bottom of the little container with it.
Ditto what SplshMtn99 said about keeping busy. It took a while for me to pace myself correctly, so I had periods where I was out of samples and waiting for the next batch to cook. Also the frosting makes a mess, so you need to keep changing gloves and cleaning the cutting board and knife. Really glad bringing water was mentioned yesterday!!
I found it was less messy to cut the rolls before frosting. It took longer to frost four little pieces, but cleanup took less time, less frosting on board and gloves. I did it both ways, depending on how busy I was.
I ended up using 7 cans, baking 4 rolls at a time. Good event, a little messy and even better if you don't bake your hot pad!

Classic...... you baked your hot pad. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ;) Gotta love it.

Yes, you are right, a butter knife would have been nicer to frost with. I thought about cutting, then frosting, but never tried it.

LOL, I came home smelling like cinnamon. Not a bad thing I guess. :goodvibes

Anybody doing the Optimum event tomorrow at kmart??

I was able to snatch up that garnier for walmart on 5/26. Woohoo!!

Thanks for the heads up on the garnier for 5/26 I got one! Thanks again to splashmountain99 I am so glad I had my extension cord and cutting board with me today. That went much smoother than it could have. Tomorrow I am doing country crock sides at supertarget!:thumbsup2
