want to book at Poly for christmas, but confused

Going to surprise family with trip to Disney 12/20-12/28 for christmas. I want to stay at the Poly but have never stayed at anything but moderate. I looked at the thread here and it looks amazing, but have no idea about a few things. Do I request a certain part of the property or lodge? what is the best part to be in? have certain parts been updated? We are getting the free dining so no need for club level. is the part view worth it?

Have you verified that the Poly is available with your free dining offer (assume you got a PIN). All resorts are not always included in all PIN offers. Just in case it's not, I wouldn't want you to spend lots of time figuring out room preferences.

For our Poly stay, we were in Samoa and loved it. We thought it was convenient to everything as we were just steps from the GCH, volcano pool, the beach, and Captain Cooks. With that said, I don't think any location at the Poly is bad. Some longhouses are closer to some things than others, but I don't think the resort is that spread out that it makes one building worse than another (but that's just my opinion). Have fun planning....the Poly is an amazing resort .
