Walt's Warriors (Team 7) Miles and Hours

Jim - Been meaning to ask (for over a year), were you one of the bike medical squad in 07 that was helping with Judy?

Hmmmmmm. Not sure. I was there (at the race), but not sure of the exact circumstances. If you can fill in some of the details, I may be able to remember.

Hi everyone! I am so happy to be here! Thanks for having me! :goodvibes

Being part of this team has ALREADY motivated me! I was going to have today be a rest day, but then I checked in the DIS and found a PM from Dave telling me I was on this team. So I popped over to check it out and saw the welcome messages...and thought "there is NO way I am going to go introduce myself and then say I didn't do anything today!" :rotfl2: :lmao:

So off I went to the gym and put in 50 minutes on the treadmill (40 running with a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down for 4.1 miles total).

Ok...a little bit about me...

My name is Erika and I am a college professor and mom to 3 great kids (DS, age 8, and DDs ages 6 and 5). I work almost entirely online, which is wonderful as I get to work around the kids' schedules. It also means I am online ALL the time, so I check the boards often! :goodvibes I have been married to my DH for 11 years...and he is an uber-jock. He runs 30 miles a week and is a body builder. Yeah, it's sick. He never gave up his training schedule when we had kids, so he has been fit and trim all along. (We REALLY need a vomiting smiley, don't ya think? :lmao: )

My hobbies other than Disney (and now running) include tennis, hiking, camping, boating and basically enjoying the outdoor world that is Maine. We live in a coastal community and hit the beach often...off season as well as the summer. Talk about a great place to run!

Once upon a time I was a fitness guru...aerobics instructor and fitness trainer...a true hard body...:rotfl: BUT then I had 3 kids in 3 years which did a number on my bod. I had about 20 pounds to lose (which all things considered, was not too bad ). After the last one was born, I was just in a kid coma for a while with 3 little ones home full time. Once the youngest turned 2, I thought I would be able to focus on myself. So I started to take off the weight. I took off about 10 pounds, then the 2 year old became very ill and we entered into a very long drawn out battle with renal failure (kidney disease). This lasted 2.5 years. And I stress ate like you only read about. I put the 10 pounds back on plus another 10-15. For those keeping track, I was now up about 30-35 pounds. :scared1: I should mention that I am only 5'2", so any extra weight on me realllllly shows up.

Fortunately, 6 months ago, she was given a clean bill of health (though getting there cost her one kidney :sad2:). So this past January I decided THIS IS IT. Now I am dealing with my health, my weight....all of it! I will turn 40 next year and I want to be 40 and FAB not FAT!

Through the DIS I found the Couch to 5K program and wouldn't you know it, I took to it like a fish to water! After week 3 I was running 5ks! And I haven't looked back since! I am LOVING it! So much so that I just signed up for the half next January! :cool1: I have never been a runner before...EVER! Even when I could do 3 aerobics classes back to back to back I couldn't run a mile. Not sure how or why it is working for me now, but it is and I am psyched!

So that is me and here is a pic of me with my 3 Disney Kids! You can see that over the past several years, I have mastered the "Professional Fat Girl" pose so that my fat is cleverly disguised....

Again, I am really happy to be here...and I promise that not all of my posts will be this long! :goodvibes

oh you should never have said that- i'm going to be tempted to pick your psych brain for my next project! What field are you in?

erika that is a stunning photo. Thank you so giving a bit of an introduction to you! So glad the WISH team spirit is workin already.

bad answer! we're doin the neuropsychology of Post traumatic stress disorder. I promise i'll never bring it up again tho, i imagine you want to keep work at work and dis for your amazing exercise progress- wahey! :yay:
Sure you can PM me if you want about your psych project. My research is related to stress effects on the brain too.

Welcome Erika!

Last night I worked out for one hour with my trainer (beginning to see the pattern?). 20 minutes of interval training on the treadmill - 1.25 miles - followed by 40 minutes of arm work and stretching. I will have my first sports massage on Friday night to try to reduce the tightness in my lower back - we think it is coming from my upper hamstring. My 11 year old neice thinks having your butt massaged is very funny! I'm just hoping it helps.

I ran for 4 miles...total with walking warm up and cool down was 50 minutes. :cool1:

Do we post our totals daily or weekly?

Greetings Team: Another 40 min on the exercise bike yesterday. Is February over yet?

Welcome Ericka!!! What a great picture of you guys!!! :cutie:

I think most of us post our daily totals. Carrie does a great job keeping up!

For me... No workout on Tuesday. Didn't have time to make it to aquacise as Matt's neurology appoitment was later in the day. (Background: He's had two seizures. I think both related to an anxiety medication he was on. But, that's must my opinion... It made him put on weight and he's now off it. The first seizure was in Oct, the 2nd was Thanksgiving weekend. No more since then! yay!) This was for follow up blood work and a follow up EEG. I hope all looks better and they will release him to drive again! We go back Monday morning for the results.

Yesterday was an ok day, but last night I just didn't have it. Mentally...not so good. My good shoes were Cat sprayed so I had to use my other shoes. They are fine for everyday wear, walking, but I tried to run in them and it just wasn't happening. I have ordered some stuff to spray on my shoes and hope it arrives and can get those shoes straightened out for my "long run" on Sunday. So, I ended up walking mostly last night.

Total: 45 minutes, 2 miles

Not too hopefully anything will happen today. We both have Chrio appointments today and then a meeting tonight and I just don't think squeezing the gym in will happen. This will give me two rest days this week and really...I'm ok w/ that. I feel like I need it this week.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!
Stacie

Stacie - It's good to listen to the body. I have cats with issues. I think I use Odor Neutralizer by SImple SOlutions. Keep forgetting to check. NBuy it at Meijer (WL-Mrt like store). Put it in the wash with your shoes and the should be fine. Hope those test results come back good!

Erika - Welcome again! Love your pic!!!

Dave - Febrary? Around here, March can still be not so fun too. Ugh. (Sorry, forgot that you know that) This is the worst winter we have had in years. On teh bright side, I saw dry pavement yesterday adn today. My car forgot how to go above 40, though. DId I mention it was 2 (w/o wind chill) this am? I'm am so ready for it to be warm. Just over 20 sounds heavenly.

I did 4.42 miles in 50 min last week. Starting Monday with a LR is still killing me. I'll be off tonight and tommorrow though. Well, unless you count watchin spirit of teh marathon as trianing. ;)

Just popping in here to get motivated to get out there. I am feeling sluggish today but and getting more energized as I read what everyone else is doing! :goodvibes

Thanks, Stacie! I know your sister Susan from the other thread. You are doing great! And eeewwww to the cat spray issue! I am battling with shoe issues myself. I know I need a proper fit at a specialty store, etc. but the nearest real running store is about 40 minutes from here and I won't be up in that area until next week...so I am making due with what I have for now. My feet are really small (I usually buy kids' shoes), so it is hard to find an adult running shoe that works for me. I an hoping they can get something for me.

Ok--time get off my butt and on my feet! :rotfl:

Ericka--You know my sister? Which thread? The DVC one?

Great job on your run BTW!

Stacie

Well, team, not much from me this week. 30 minute walk last night- call it about 1.75 miles.

I think I can squeeze in a run tonight, but I've said that before... we'll see.

I do have a master plan to get my mileage totals up for the week. :rolleyes1 There's a race on Saturday that offers a 10k at 7:30 a.m. and a 5k at 10:00 a.m. My family has expressed some interest in the 5k. I'm considering running the 10k and then meeting up with them for the 5k. I could run 15k and get us 30k in points! There is a catch- they're predicting rain on Saturday morning. And, I've looked at the race results from last year, and let's just say it's going to be pretty wet and lonely in the back.

Jen in GA

4.1 miles and 50 minutes total (40 running, 5 min warm-up5 cool-down). :cool1:

3.5 miles in 31:40 in the rain.............

My legs do not quite feel like they are fully "back". Probably just an easy bike ride tomorrow. Then tomorrow night.......................

Spamalot!!!!!!

Wow look at these posts stacking up! I'm super impressed.

However, i've had a very sad running revelation! Went for a run outside for the first time since early jan. Looked outside, no frost or ice- hurray i'll go for a run. Got out, very windy and after 1 1/2 miles i nearly died  Had a minute walk then did another 1 1/2 miles before arriving home all red faced and puffing and a little dismayed. I really need to make my treadmill runs harder work obviously!

Oh well, still 3 miles 34 mins.

I did 2 miles in 40 minutes today walking to a meeting across downtown and back. Do I get extra credit for walking in 3 inch heels?
